While Retired Lt. Douglas Flanery now enjoys his well-earned retirement in Florida, his roots in Greenville and Darke County run deep. For 29 years, Doug served the citizens of Greenville with honor, integrity, and dedication through his career in law enforcement. His commitment to public service earned the respect of countless residents throughout our community. Although he no longer lives in Darke County, I am truly honored and grateful to receive his endorsement. His confidence in my leadership means a great deal to me, and I sincerely appreciate his support as we work toward a stronger future for Darke County.

1. When did you become a US citizen?
2. Do you live in Darke County and if not will you be moving to Darke County.
3. How long have you been interested in the position and have you been attending meetings to learn what the position is responsable for?
4. What part of the position would you be most valuable?
5. Darke county is a large farming community; so, what do you know about farming?
6. Have you met all the members of the Sheriff Department and explained your platform for running? 7. Have you spent any time with the current commision members and feel confortable with those that will be in office?
8. What is and would be your feeling and position using farm ground for data, solar, windmills , etc? I realize these are a lot of questions; but, if you want the tax payers' votes we need answers. Thank you!

My answers:

1. When did you become a U.S. citizen?
I became a United States citizen many years ago after coming to Greenville as a Rotary Exchange Student in 1986. Since then, I have proudly served this country as a United States Marine, a federal employee for 28 years, and now as a candidate for Darke County Commissioner.

2. Do you live in Darke County and, if not, will you be moving here?
Yes, I live in Darke County. Greenville has been my home since 1986. Although my federal career required me to work in different parts of the country, I maintained my residence and roots in Darke County throughout my career. I never stopped calling this community home.

3. How long have you been interested in this position, and have you attended meetings to learn what the position is responsible for?
I have spent the last several months seriously evaluating the needs of Darke County and learning more about the responsibilities of a County Commissioner. I have attended Commissioner meetings, met with local leaders, toured county facilities, and spoken with residents to better understand both the opportunities and challenges facing our county.

4. What part of the position would you be most valuable in?
My greatest strength is leadership, management, budgeting, and strategic planning. During my career with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Homeland Security, and the United States Marine Corps, I managed large organizations, major budgets, complex operations, and diverse workforces. I believe those experiences will help me make informed decisions, improve transparency, and ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.

5. Darke County is a large farming community. What do you know about farming?
I am not a farmer, and I will never pretend to be. However, I recognize that agriculture is the backbone of Darke County’s economy and identity. I have spent years living in this community, listening to farmers, business owners, and residents. I support protecting farmland, preserving property rights, maintaining strong rural infrastructure, and ensuring farmers have a seat at the table when major decisions affect their land and livelihoods.

6. Have you met with members of the Sheriff’s Department and explained your platform?
I have met with members of law enforcement and have toured the county jail. Public safety is one of my priorities, and I support our Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, firefighters, and EMS personnel. I intend to continue meeting with public safety professionals throughout the campaign to hear their concerns and learn how county government can better support them.

7. Have you spent time with the current Commissioners, and do you feel comfortable working with those who will be in office?
I have attended meetings and have had conversations with local officials. Regardless of political party or personal differences, I believe a Commissioner must be willing to work professionally with everyone for the benefit of Darke County. If elected, my focus will be cooperation, transparency, and results.

8. What is your position on using farmland for data centers, solar farms, wind farms, and similar developments?
Every project should be evaluated carefully and on its own merits. My priority is protecting Darke County’s farmland, water resources, property owners, and rural character. I do not support development that is forced upon communities without transparency and public input. Any proposal involving data centers, solar farms, wind projects, or other large developments should undergo thorough review of its impact on agriculture, infrastructure, water usage, property values, and long-term benefits to county residents before any decisions are made.

Thank you Norma Bolinger Glunt again for taking the time to ask these questions. Whether someone agrees with me or not, I welcome respectful conversations because informed voters make for a stronger community.

I have never met my opponent, and I have nothing personal against him. But since he is presenting his experience as the reason he is the best person for this job, I believe the voters deserve to compare experience honestly.

There is a major difference between serving on boards and actually leading large organizations with real budgets, real employees, and real responsibility.

For nearly 30 years, I served this country in the United States Marine Corps, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Veterans Affairs. I retired in 2026 after serving as an Executive Leader within one of the largest healthcare systems in the federal government.

I didn’t just attend meetings — I led organizations.

I managed major budgets, contracts, logistics, emergency preparedness, strategic planning, and large teams across multiple states. I made difficult decisions that impacted Veterans, taxpayers, employees, and operations every single day.

And while my career took me across the country, I never left Darke County. Greenville has been my home since I arrived here as an exchange student in 1986. I kept my roots, my residence, and my commitment to this community.

Darke County deserves leadership with proven experience, accountability, transparency, and the courage to make tough decisions.

This election is not about who has the most local titles. It is about who is ready to lead on day one.

I’m Eddie Anjos, Independent candidate for Darke County Commissioner.

Today I had the honor of attending a beautiful Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony honoring the brave men, women, and K-9 officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Their courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting our communities will never be forgotten. Behind every badge is a family, a story, and a life devoted to service. Today we remember those heroes and stand with the loved ones they left behind.

As a Marine Corps Veteran and someone who has spent a lifetime in public service, I have deep respect for the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make every single day. Darke County is blessed with men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe.

Please join me in taking a moment to honor and remember all fallen officers and K-9s. Their service and sacrifice will always matter. 🇺🇸🐕‍🦺💙

Well… I showed up this morning thinking I was just volunteering for Planting Day downtown. Next thing I know, I’m helping Greenville Police load a “special guest” into the cruiser at Broadway and Washington. 😂🐶

Good news — the dog is safe and being taken care of. Huge thanks to the officers and everyone who helped out this morning. Between planting flowers and rescuing runaway dogs, downtown Greenville was definitely full of action today!

This morning I had the opportunity to participate in the Downtown Greenville Adopt-A-Box Flower Program planting day, and it was great to see our community come together to make our town even more beautiful.

Events like this remind us that a strong community is built by people willing to volunteer, give back, and take pride in where we live. Whether planting flowers, adopting a flower box, or simply showing up to help, every little effort makes a difference.

Thank you to everyone who organized and participated in today’s event. Darke County is special because of people who care about their community and are willing to roll up their sleeves to make it better.

I’m proud to be part of it. 🌸🇺🇸

I’m honored to receive the endorsement and support of longtime friend and Darke County entrepreneur John Baumgardner.

John has spent years building businesses, creating jobs, and investing in our community. When someone with that kind of experience and commitment believes in our campaign, it means a lot to me.

This campaign is about bringing real leadership, transparency, and accountability back to county government. It’s about putting the people of Darke County first — not politics.

Thank you, John, for your trust, encouragement, and belief in what we can accomplish together for the future of Darke County.

I’m ready to work hard every single day for this community that has given so much to me and my family.
