Washing your vehicle in the driveway may seem harmless, but soapy water, dirt, oil, and grime all flow directly into storm drains. From there, it goes straight to our creeks and rivers — untreated.
A better option is to wash your vehicle on grass or gravel, where the ground can naturally filter the water, or use a commercial car wash.
Small changes at home can make a big difference for our waterways.

Oil on pavement doesn’t disappear. A few drops from each car can add up fast. Rain and melting snow carry it straight into our streams. Keeping our vehicles maintained can prevent this.
