Greenup County Democratic Party Official Statement on January 6th events in Washington, D.C.:

The Greenup County Democratic Party joins Americans in denouncing the shameful and illegal actions of those protestors who chose to storm the Capitol Building in Washington DC. This anti-American action is not only a black day for our democracy, it endangered lives.

Further, we are disappointed that area residents chose to participate in the protest of a legal and fair Presidential election with the goal of overturning the will of voters. We are happy that they have returned safely, but such actions do not represent all Greenup Countians, and they do not help our communities heal from the wounds caused by national partisan politics.

We call upon the people of Greenup County to reject the politics of hate and stand united in the love of our community and what makes it great.
