Windstream currently has an outage that is impacting the ability to call the administrative lines at the 911 center. If you need to reach the 911 center administrative lines please dial 606-922-2262 or 911.

Great work by all involved, quick response. We want to thank all the responded.

Shout out to our 911 staff and Boyd County 911, they did an outstanding job dispatching these agencies and helping direct auto and mutual aid agencies to the correct locations.

***Attention in the Lloyd area of Greenup County High School campus.

Yesterday crews installed a new emergency warning siren for chemical, civil and tornado emergencies on the property at Greenup County High School.

Thanks to our partnership and funding from the Greenup County Health Department, the Greenup County Public Safety Office/ Emergency Management was able to have this system installed.

As we grow our siren network across the county, we will continue to focus on placing these units close to our school campuses first and then spread out to other areas of the county as funding comes available.

In the coming weeks we will release a public education program that explains when and how the system will be used and a sample of the tones that will be used.

Thanks again to the Greenup County Health Department for their partnership and financial support.

A special thanks goes out to Kentucky Power for their generous donation of the pole and for the installation of the pole.

Thank you to the City of Raceland for providing a bucket truck to help with installation; and the Russell Fire Department for providing their bucket truck and man power that assisted with installation.

Also, we can’t forget Patrick Bloss and United Rentals for their quick response to our request for a lift. We appreciate you.
