What a great day for our department and community! Today at 11:00 a.m. a groundbreaking ceremony was held to officially celebrate the beginning of the renovation of our existing fire station which will include the addition of a new fire truck bay.

This is a long awaited project and has been nearly 15 years in the making. We are thankful for the leadership of the Load VFD Board of Trustees, members of the Load VFD, and the Greenup County Fiscal Court for making this project possible. Along with these entities, several other agencies and people have played a significant role in helping us get to where we are today. Without the support of everyone who has ever make any kind of contribution whether that would be monetary or by volunteering time, we would not be where we are today.

We are excited to get this project underway and can’t wait until our new facility is complete!

Judge Executive Bobby Hall's Fiscal Court Report:

Competitive BID for a Public Safety Building.

We the Greenup County Fiscal Court in conjunction with the Load Volunteer Fire Department Board of Trustees and the Greenup County Ambulance Authority are excited to announce plans to construct a Public Safety Building to serve both the Load Volunteer Fire Department and the Greenup County Ambulance Authority at the current Load Fire Department location.

For many years our first responders serving this area have worked from outdated facilities. This very much needed project will represent a long-awaited investment in the safety of our residents and community.

The Greenup County Fiscal Court will be advertising for competitive BIDS for construction of the facility in the next few weeks in the Greenup Gazette.

The Fiscal Court looks forward to selecting a contractor and moving this project toward construction.

Thank you,

Greenup County Emergency Operations Center is activated and will open today 1/24/2026 at 1 pm.

An emergency operations center (EOC) is a central command and control facility responsible for carrying out the principles of emergency preparedness and emergency management, or disaster management functions at a strategic level during an emergency, and ensuring the continuity of operation of local governments and emergency service agencies.

Personnel are on duty to assist local governments with their response to the impending inclement weather. The EOC also assist citizens with non-emergent request.

As this weather emergency will continue for several days, we will evaluate and determine if temporary warming shelters will be warranted in Greenup County on an as need basis. Some cities have warming centers open now and will be listed below.

Direct contact to the EOC is as followings:

(606) 314-1013 or (606) 473-5644

For Non-emergency weather related request you need to call the EOC NOT 911. This is for any agency request, as well as for information for the public, or to assist the public in requests that are outside the scope for emergency assistance.

As always, for any and all Emergencies, call 911.
