Twenty-five years ago today, 343 firefighters answered the call and never came home. Alongside them, police officers, EMS, Port Authority officers, and nearly 3,000 innocent people lost their lives.

For those of us in the fire service, this day never gets lighter. It weighs on us every year. We think about the brothers and sisters who climbed those stairs knowing what was waiting for them, and we carry that with us every time we step onto the apparatus.

Today, the members of Hempfield Fire Department pause to remember.

Today our members and Carbon, along with AC520, did some pump training on the Rescue that was recently placed in service. They utilized E28 as the pumper on the hydrant, supplying R28 and T23. Deployed hand lines and ran the master stream on the Truck. Good training by all!
