25 years ago, our nation was attacked in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93, whose passengers and crew made their final stand near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Today, we remember every life taken and every family forever changed.
We honor the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, flight crews, building trades workers, public employees, healthcare workers, and otherwise ordinary people who ran toward danger to help others. We also remember those who spent months at the recovery sites and those who later became sick or died because of that work.
In our nation’s darkest hours, working people showed us the true meaning of solidarity: standing together, caring for strangers, and answering the call when others need us most.
United we stand. We will never forget.
