We had a fantastic turnout for our Resource Recess Environmental Camp for 2026. Over 90 kids spend the morning with us learning about the importance of protecting our environment and natural resources.

We want to thank all of our campers, the parents, volunteers (Madison, Lydia, Kendall and Charlotte) and especially our presenters: Sabrina with Purdue Extension-Decatur County, Alicia and Allie with Decatur County Department of Health, Veronica with Purdue Extension Franklin County, Shari and Hannah with Greensburg - Decatur County Public Library, and Stephanie and Bernie with Decatur County Recycling. Thank you to Ryan the Lion with Silly Safari Shows Inc. for sharing their animals and capping off our event.

Resource Recess Environmental Camp is tomorrow!

Registration is from 8:15-8:45 in the new Community Building. Please park in the new parking lot on the south side of the fairgrounds (south of the Farm & Home building) or the old Purdue Extension lot. We have over 100 kiddos signed up, so there will be lots of cars!! Please be extra cautious as you enter and exit the fairgrounds.

With all the rain we’ve had, we’re reminiscing about drier days!

Check out this video from local farmer, Tom Stewart, who was strip tilling into cover this spring.

Strip-till is a conservation tillage system that tills only the narrow, 6- to 8-inch-wide strips where seeds will be planted, leaving the residue-covered soil between rows undisturbed. The undisturbed residue controls erosion and suppresses weeds. It's a conservation farming practice bridge between no-till and conventional tillage.
