With all the rain we’ve had, we’re reminiscing about drier days!

Check out this video from local farmer, Tom Stewart, who was strip tilling into cover this spring.

Strip-till is a conservation tillage system that tills only the narrow, 6- to 8-inch-wide strips where seeds will be planted, leaving the residue-covered soil between rows undisturbed. The undisturbed residue controls erosion and suppresses weeds. It's a conservation farming practice bridge between no-till and conventional tillage.

No-Till soybeans into a Cereal Rye cover crop on Fred Fry's farm near Milhousen. These were planted mid-April and have had 6+ inches of rain on significant slope. No erosion, one of the many benefits of No-Till.

Thank you to our amazing community for knocking our Tree Giveaway out of the park. 1,200 plus trees gone in a little over 2 hrs. Thank you to our SWCD Board members, Mike Hughes, & Decatur County Recycling!!!
