The first half of 2026 brought significant investment, expansion, and development activity to Westmoreland County. Hitachi Energy continued investing in its growing Westmoreland operations. GE Vernova announced a $166 million expansion of its western Pennsylvania operations. Chelsea Building Products opened its new facility at Commerce Crossing at Westmoreland. And construction advanced on PennSTART, a transportation testing and training facility taking shape near New Stanton.

PIAD Precision Casting is a great example.

Beginning in 1967, PIAD has developed decades of experience in copper-based permanent mold manufacturing. The company specializes in precision casting and casting conversions using its unique PIAD Chill Cast Process, helping provide customers with functional components and alternatives to traditional manufacturing methods.

PIAD’s Westmoreland County operations include its main precision casting facility in Greensburg and its LMC machining operation in Latrobe.
