Taking a leadership role to help build healthy and whole communities in Westmoreland County

The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Westmoreland (RA) and the Westmoreland County Land Bank (LB) has taken a leadership role to help build healthy and whole communities and reposition our towns by eliminating blight and its influences throughout Westmoreland County. Our work is carried out through blight demolition, residential and commercial rehabilitation, acquisition and repurposing of vacant and tax-delinquent properties, accessible and affordable housing, training and education partnerships, historic preservation, and brownfield redevelopment. Working hand in hand with local officials and like-minded organizations, these efforts will deliver more desirable communities in which to live, work, raise a family and prosper.

We’re excited to welcome Isabella, a student at Saint Vincent College, to the Westmoreland County Redevelopment Authority and Land Bank team this fall! 🎉

As our Communications Intern, Isabella will be helping to support our communications and outreach efforts, creating content, and sharing the work happening across Westmoreland County.

We’re excited to have her bring her creativity and perspective to the team and look forward to all she’ll accomplish this semester!

Today we say a bittersweet farewell to our Communications Intern, Bridget Joyce! 🎉

Bridget joined our team last fall and hit the ground running, bringing creativity, professionalism, and a great attitude! She's been an absolute pleasure to work with, and her contributions to our communications and outreach efforts have been felt across the organization.

We are so proud to see her heading into an exciting next chapter: continuing her Master's degree at Seton Hill University and growing into her role as Global Communications Specialist at the University of Pittsburgh. There are big things ahead for this driven young professional!

While we will genuinely miss Bridget, we thank her for her hard work over the past year, and we're cheering her on every step of the way! 👏

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day!

In observance of Labor Day, the Westmoreland County Redevelopment Authority and Land Bank office will be closed on Monday, September 7.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday as we recognize and celebrate the contributions of workers in our communities!

Our office will reopen on Tuesday, September 8.

As students head back to the classroom, it’s a great time to remember that a child’s learning starts at home. A safe, healthy home provides an important foundation for children to learn, grow, and thrive. 🎒📚

Through Lead Safe Westmoreland, qualified households can receive no-cost services to identify and address lead-based paint hazards and other health and safety concerns in homes built before 1978. Improvements can include window and door repairs, paint stabilization, and other necessary home repairs.

🌿 Worth celebrating: 23 acres along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail in Trafford are now permanently protected!

Members of our staff joined the Westmoreland Land Trust and partners this week for the Turtle Creek Gorge Conservation Celebration & Ribbon Cutting, honoring years of collaborative work to protect and enhance the lands, waters, and trails of the Turtle Creek Gorge corridor.

Thank you to Leanna Bird, Executive Director of the Westmoreland Land Trust, Commissioner Ted Kopas, and Stan Rudge, President of the Westmoreland Heritage Trail Board of Directors, and other speakers for their remarks, and to everyone who has worked to preserve this remarkable landscape for the community to enjoy.
