Good morning , Tiger Nation!
As we are preparing to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and close out another successful school year, I want to share several important reminders and updates for our final week of school. Please read carefully!

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
We would like to apologize for inadvertently missing this recognition during the month of May.
Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is observed each May to celebrate the generations of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians who have enriched America's history and culture.

The observance commemorates the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to America in 1843 and recognizes the contributions of Chinese laborers who helped build the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869.
Throughout history, AAPI communities have made significant contributions to our nation through leadership, innovation, service, science, education, the arts, and countless other fields. We honor and celebrate these contributions and the rich diversity represented within AAPI communities.

Retesting Information
Our Retesting Phase for End-of-Grade (EOG) and End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments will take place on Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9.
Please remember that parents/guardians had to opt in and provide consent for students to retake an EOG if their original score was non-proficient.

Important Testing Reminders:
Testing will begin no later than 9:00 a.m. and conclude around 1:00 p.m.
Students must arrive on time to participate.

Summer Reading Challenge
We encourage all students to continue reading throughout the summer!
Students who read and record 600 minutes between June 11 and August 24 will earn a ticket to Kersey Valley for use during the Corn Maze or Family Christmas attractions this fall.
Reading minutes must be logged into Beanstack to qualify for prizes.

Students may access Beanstack through Clever or directly through: https://beanstack.com/gcs
Students who are unable to log their minutes electronically over the summer may enter them when they return to school in August. Please encourage your child to keep reading and growing all summer long!

Last Day of School
Wednesday, June 10, 2026, is the final day of the 2025-2026 school year.
This will not be my final communication of the school year. I will provide additional updates regarding report cards and other important summer information in the coming weeks.
Please ensure the school has your most current mailing address to help us avoid returned report cards and other important documents.

Thank you, Tiger Nation, for your partnership, support, and commitment throughout this school year. It has truly been a privilege to serve your children and work alongside your families.
Congratulations to our Class of 2026 as well as our 6th and 7th grade students as we celebrate their accomplishments this week. We look forward to recognizing their hard work and achievements.

Are you or your student missing glasses, house keys, car keys, and or a little Crossbody? Please make sure you stop by the office when you celebrate your student and check the Lost and Found and please claim your item. These items will be discarded if not claimed.

06/05/2026

More lost and found clothing that need to be claimed. As you come to celebrate your students promotion and celebration please stop by the multipurpose room and claim your students items. We do not own the rights to the music that is playing in the background, but we have permission to play it!

06/05/2026

Attention all parents and or guardians! Please make sure you tag and share this video. We have laid the lost and found out in the multipurpose room and we are asking that you come in, view for any of your students items and please take those items with you! When you come to your students celebration and or promotion; again, we ask that you please stop by the multipurpose room and pick up items that belong to your student. it would be a shame to discard items that you work so hard to pay for! Again, please tag and share and collect your students items when you come to celebrate them. We do not own the rights to the music playing in the background however we have permission to play it.

Dear Tiger Families,
Today, students received a letter containing their End-of-Grade (EOG) and/or End-of-Course (EOC) test results. We encourage you to take a few moments to review this information with your student.

Students who received a Non-Proficient (NP) score may be eligible to retest. The only scheduled retesting dates are Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9.
Permission forms were sent home with eligible students. If you would like your student to participate in retesting, please complete and return the permission form to your student's homeroom teacher by Friday, June 5, at 10:00 a.m.

If your student did not receive a permission form, you may send a written note to the homeroom teacher indicating your permission for your student to retest. You may also fill in this form: https://forms.office.com/r/wWdzABUZ64
Please note that all parent permissions must be received by Friday, June 5, at 10:00 a.m. in order for students to be scheduled for retesting.

Greetings Tiger Families,
This is Principal Chase Arrington from Western Guilford Middle School with your weekly announcements for Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5.

First, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTA parent volunteers for helping make the 8th Grade Formal on Friday, May 29 such a wonderful event. Our students, staff, and families had a phenomenal time. The music, food, energy, and overall atmosphere made the evening truly special for our 8th grade students. We appreciate our PTA for helping create such a memorable experience.
We are now down to the final 8 days of the 2025–2026 school year. Time has truly flown by, and we are grateful for your continued partnership and support.
As we move into the final days of school, we will continue with end-of-year testing. Thank you for being diligent in getting students to school on time and for respecting the testing environment by avoiding early checkouts before testing sessions are complete.
Please also remember that students may not have cell phones or other electronic devices on their person during testing. If a student is found with a phone during testing, whether it is being used or not, it is a testing violation. If a phone goes off during testing, including an alarm, ringer, or vibration, it is also considered a violation. We will continue making daily morning announcements to remind students of this expectation, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing this at home.
EOG/EOC Testing Dates
June 1–3: Math Assessments
June 4–5: Makeups/Reteaching
June 8–10: Retesting
End-of-Year Awards Programs & Promotion Ceremony

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: June 8 at 6:30 PM

Please be mindful of high heels as students will be walking across a stage.
Please do not allow dress expectations to prevent your child from attending. We want all students to be present as we celebrate this important milestone together.
Attention 8th Grade Families and Student-Athletes
If your child plans to participate in athletics at Western Guilford High School during the 2026–2027 school year, please begin the athletic eligibility process by creating a DragonFly account.
DragonFly is the official platform used by Western Guilford High School to collect athletic participation paperwork, physicals, and eligibility documentation. Students must have a completed DragonFly account before participating in workouts, tryouts, or athletics.
The 2026–2027 athletic forms will become available on June 4.

Digital Learning Survey for Families

Please complete the Digital Learning Survey here:
Digital Learning Survey for Families
The survey will remain available until June 10. Thank you for taking time to complete it.
Federal Program Application Stakeholder Input Needed
Each year, Guilford County Schools completes an application for federal funds, including Title I, Title II, Title III, and Title IV funds. As part of this process, stakeholder input is needed.
This survey focuses on the use of federal funds to improve schools and student achievement. We want all stakeholders to have an opportunity to provide input into the district’s federal application.
Please carefully review the information provided in the survey and answer each question to the best of your ability.
You may access the survey here:
Federal Program Application Stakeholder Survey
You may also access the survey by visiting the Guilford County Schools website.
The survey will close on June 12, 2026.
Thank you, Tiger Families, for your continued support as we finish the school year strong. Let’s make these final days meaningful, focused, and celebratory for our students.

Chase Arrington, Principal
