Explore the heart of the city with our guided walking tour of the Downtown Greenway on Saturday, June 27, from 9 am to 12 noon!

Join us as we share a wealth of information about the Downtown Greenway project, local history, surrounding neighborhoods, public art installations, environmental stewardship, economic impact, and more!

Each tour will take approximately 3 hours to complete the 4-mile loop of the Downtown Greenway, and will start and finish in LoFi Park located at 500 N. Eugene Street at 9 am.

On-street parking is available in the area, or at the public parking deck at 215 N. Eugene Street. We ask that you do not use the parking lots of nearby businesses, our of respect for their customers and business needs.

Join us this Saturday, June 13, from 9-11 am at Cairn's Course (501 Guilford Ave) for Checkmate: Intro to Chess! A fun, beginner-friendly program that teaches students the basics of chess, including piece movement, rules, and simple strategies.

Students will learn directly from instructor and artist Subbora Jackson through interactive lessons and friendly games while building critical thinking, focus, and confidence—leaving ready to play with skill and say, “Checkmate!”♟️

Join us Friday, June 26, from 5-6:30 pm at Woven Works Park for Downtown Greenway's first Crafty Kids Club workshop. We will have DIY Butterflies, a hands-on, creative program where children design and build their very own beautiful butterflies using fun craft materials.

Through cutting, coloring, painting, and decorating, kids will explore their imagination while developing fine motor skills and artistic confidence. Each child will leave with a unique butterfly creation—and a big smile to match! 🦋✨

Join us for a walk along the Greenway with the SPCA on Saturday, June 20, from 9-11 am! The SPCA is a local animal rescue nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected, and injured animals. Individuals will have a dog that they can walk along the greenway to socialize and get their energy out in a positive way!

The hike will be about 1-2 miles long and begin at the Freedom Cornerstone (at the corner of Murrow Boulevard and E. Gate City Boulevard).
Parking is available at 750 Plott St.

After 25 years of vision, partnership, and perseverance, Greensboro's Downtown Greenway has come full circle and is now complete – and we're excited to share our new documentary highlighting the story behind this transformational project.

This film chronicles the creation of a four-mile urban greenway that now encircles downtown Greensboro, connecting neighborhoods, parks, public art, businesses, and community spaces. Through interviews, historic perspectives, and scenes from the trail itself, the film highlights the people and organizations who helped transform a bold idea into one of North Carolina's most unique urban trail systems.

The completion of the Downtown Greenway marks the end of a decades-long project, but only the beginning of the stories, experiences, and connections that will continue to unfold along the path for generations to come.

Special thanks to filmmaker Alexei Mejouev of Birdhouse Productions for bringing this story to life through his thoughtful direction and creative vision.

Calling all caregivers with little ones!

Join us monthly on first Fridays with your kiddos in strollers for a walk (and roll) along the Downtown Greenway. Meet new people and explore the downtown area as we venture out from Woven Works Park (401 Cumberland St.) at 10:30 AM (after First Friday Storytime ends) .

This is a drop-in event. Plan for 1-2 miles round-trip, including a stop at family-friendly play spaces along the way.

Explore the stream restoration with Laine Roberts and the Downtown Greenway on Thursday, June 4, from 5:30-7:00 pm along our Western Branch at Cairn's Course (501 Guilford Ave.) and learn about the life the stream supports, its importance to the environment, and simple ways you can help care for it.
There are no public restrooms at this site.

We're celebrating National Trails Day 2026 this Saturday at Country Park!

Join Greensboro Parks & Recreation and more than 30 community partners on Saturday, June 6, from 9 am to 1 pm for a morning of outdoor recreation, environmental education, and family-friendly fun. Explore the park through guided hikes, mountain bike demos and group rides, birdwatching, stand-up paddleboard demos, geocaching, trail runs, and visits with the ECO Bus animals.

Enjoy live music throughout the event, take a discounted pedal boat ride for $5 per boat, and grab a bite from local food vendors serving up breakfast, lunch, snacks, and sweets!

Admission is free. Bring your family, invite a friend, and celebrate Greensboro's trails, parks, and outdoor spaces!

Join us for free outdoor fitness classes this spring on the Downtown Greenway for June at Carin's Course (501 Guilford Avenue), proudly presented in partnership with the YMCA of Greensboro.

For 9 weeks, we're hosting a fun, all-levels fitness class at a different Downtown Greenway location. Whether you're just getting started or looking to stay active with a community, there's something for everyone!

All abilities are welcome. No registration required – Just drop in! On street parking is available.

Come out for First Friday Storytime Friday, June 5 at 10:00 am on the Downtown Greenway! Young children will enjoy engaging books, cheerful songs, and playful movement with the Greensboro Public Library. Then stay and play at Woven Works Park's accessible playground features!

Street parking is available at 401 Cumberland St. There are no public restrooms at this location!
