Guilford Soil & Water Conservation District

Guilford Soil & Water Conservation District The district provides technical assistance to landowners and educational programs on soil and water quality.

The Guilford Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a governmental subdivision
of the State of North Carolina, charged with the responsibility of promoting soil and water
conservation and establishing conservation programs in the District. The District partners
with the Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) to carry out these responsibilities. As a local organization, we work with citizens, agencies, and landowners to plan and direct
programs for the conservation and development of our natural resources. We work closely
with other state, federal, and local agencies, such as NC Department of Agriculture, NC Department
of Environment and Natural Resources, NC Forest Service, NC Cooperative Extension,
etc. to provide effective natural resource management and environmental education.

📢‼️Attention Farmers, we have a new Livestock Extension Agent in Guilford‼️📢

Abby Weisberg recently joined N.C. Cooperative Extension in Guilford County as the Livestock Extension Agent. She is a recent graduate of Virginia Tech, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Dairy Science with a minor in Strategic Communications. Abby’s passion for agriculture began through her involvement in 4-H and FFA and has continued through a variety of hands-on experiences within the livestock and dairy industries. These experiences have helped shape her passion for working with producers, providing education, and staying connected to the agricultural community.

In her new role, Abby is excited to get to know local producers, visit farms throughout the county, and provide practical resources and educational opportunities for the livestock community. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, cooking and baking, and attending livestock shows whenever she gets the chance. Abby is excited to call North Carolina home and looks forward to building relationships and becoming more involved in the Guilford County agricultural community!

To connect with Abby or learn more about livestock resources and programs in Guilford County, she can be reached at 336-860-8873
