Greensboro Aquatic Center Opened in the summer of 2011, the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) is a state-of-the-art facility featuring leading edge concepts in aquatic design.

The GAC is a state-of-the-art facility featuring cutting edge concepts in aquatic design, located on the campus of the Coliseum Complex, the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Southeast. The GAC is located on the campus of the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Southeast. This GAC will bring together all major aquatic sports – competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and other unique sports all in one venue. The GAC fully meets NCAA and FINA standards and will offer Greensboro the opportunity to host high school and collegiate events, USA Swimming meets, Master's swimming and U.S. Water Polo events as well as a myriad of local, regional, national and international competitions. Among the GAC's many features:
-78,323 square feet
-3 bodies of water - competition pool, warm-up pool and diving well
-2,500 seating capacity

This Throwback Thursday, we’re looking back at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships held right here at the Greensboro Aquatic Center! 🏊‍♀️

Missy Franklin made history at the GAC, becoming the first woman to break 1:40 in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.10. California won the team championship with 513 points, earning the program’s fourth NCAA title.

Today's ranking is based on general perceived "difficulty." We decided the placement of each class based on the intended intensity and impact our participants are expected to receive for each of the listed classes (explanation below). Difficulty is subjective, so please let us know if you agree or how you might adjust our list in the comments!

While this ranking can make some classes seem intimidating, please do not let that scare you off; all of our classes are beginner friendly and welcoming!

📣Our Ranking Explained📣
Aqua Yoga - restorative, low impact and low intensity
Senior H20 - gentle but working, low impact and low-to-moderate intensity
Deep Water H20 - cardio-centric, low impact and moderate intensity
Aerobics - full body workout, low-to-moderate impact and moderate-to-high intensity
Floating Yoga - vinyasa style balance work, moderate impact and moderate-to-high intensity
Endurance - cardio-centric HIIT, moderate impact and high intensity.

🏊‍♀️ FACTS AT THE GAC: 🌊

Did you know the Greensboro Aquatic Center’s competition pool can be rearranged into 10 different configurations using two movable bulkheads? 🤯

From 8 lanes of 50-meter swimming to 22 lanes of 25-yard swimming, the pool can adapt to host a wide variety of competitions and events! 🏆

That’s a whole lot of swimming in one pool! 💦
