The Greene County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of one of the most recent scam attempts. Individuals identifying themselves as GCSO Deputies are contacting individuals and advising they missed court. In this case, Federal Court. They are using names of our deputies during their conversations with potential victims and advising them that the Federal Marshals have a warrant and will come and arrest them unless a fine or fees are paid. Please understand that this is a scam. The Greene County Sheriff's Office, along with the U.S. Marshal's Office, would not contact you by phone concerning an arrest warrant. We also would not demand payment over the phone for any reason. Sheriff Harrison urges everyone to stay vigilant and to never give out personal or financial information to anyone over the phone for reasons such as this.

There are slight irregularities in these documents to look for such as grammar, titles of individuals, and signatures, just to name a few.
