At the Guilford County Partnership for Children (GCPC), we work to ensure that every child in Guilford County enters school safe, healthy, and ready to succeed. As a local nonprofit, we strategically invest over $18 million each year to support young children and their families, from prenatal to age five, through health, early literacy, family support, and enhancing the early childhood education f
ield. We direct funding from state contracts, along with support from local foundations and private donors, to programs that make a measurable difference in early childhood development. As part of North Carolina’s nationally recognized Smart Start network, we collaborate with partners across the community to strengthen families and improve outcomes for young children through evidence based-evidence informed models. The Guilford County Partnership for Children is proud to administer the largest NC Pre-K program in the state. For high-quality early education, we offer approximately 2,166 NC Pre-K slots across hundreds of classrooms within Guilford County Schools, the Head Start program at Generation Ed, and private 4 and 5 star licensed childcare facilities across Guilford County, including Greensboro and High Point. High quality standards allow us to ensure that each classroom provides engaging and nurturing early learning experiences to promote long-term success in school. DPIL has had an incredible impact, helping parents increase their daily reading to their children from 45% to 67% after participation. Guilford County reaches over 50% of the children in our county ages birth to five. By fostering early literacy and building home libraries, it is just another way we are laying the foundation for success.
