Today, I officially closed out my first year as principal and my 11th year in education.

This year has been one of growth, reflection, hard work, and purpose. Serving as the principal of Bessemer Elementary School has been an honor, and I am incredibly proud of the work we accomplished together during the 2025–2026 school year.

This year, we focused on becoming 1% Better Every Day. We strengthened our instructional practices, used data more intentionally, celebrated student growth, improved school culture, increased accountability, and created opportunities for our scholars to be seen, supported, and successful. We also worked to build stronger relationships with families, staff, and community partners while keeping students at the center of every decision.

I am especially proud of the progress we made in academics, attendance, schoolwide expectations, parent communication, and creating a culture where students and staff know that excellence is possible. Our Bobcats showed resilience, determination, and pride, and our staff continued to show up with passion and commitment for our students.

I am deeply grateful to Guilford County Schools for trusting me with the opportunity to lead. I do not take this responsibility lightly. Leadership is not always easy, but it is always meaningful when it is rooted in service, purpose, and love for children.

To the students, staff, families, and community of Bessemer Elementary: thank you for allowing me to serve as your principal. This first year has taught me so much, and I am excited for what is ahead.

Year 1 as principal is complete. Year 11 in education is complete.
