Announcement for The Lance Corporal C. Phoenix "Jacob" Levy Flag Retirement Initiative!
Guilford County Government, Register of Deeds, Veteran's Services, and Guilford Chapter of the Boy Scouts of America are announcing The Levy Initiative as an effort to collect and dispose of American Flags consistent with US Flag Code. We will have a locations in Greensboro and High Point between 8 am to 5 pm each day. Bring your worn and tattered flags and we'll properly retire them.
This Initiative is named after Marine Lance Corporal Levy who served with distinction and lost his life in the War in Afghanistan in 2011. His mother, Amanda Jacobs, is a Gold Star Mother and Deputy in the Guilford County Register of Deeds. We are proud to honor his life and service in providing this community service.
Please join us for our opening ceremony this Thursday, November 8th at 7 pm in the Guilford County Board of Commissioner's Chambers at 201 West Market Street in downtown Greensboro. We will be joined by Gold Star families, view a short video on the project, and the community will have an opportunity to meet our new Veteran's Services Director Robert Shelly.
