By now, you might've heard…

Over at the John E. Owens Jr. Educational and Technology Center, Bobby Perkins Jr., from our city IT Team, showed the kids just how fun coding can be.

They kicked off building marshmallow towers and guiding 'human robots' through obstacle courses to teach them all about coding logic and fixing mistakes.

Then they dove into some hands-on Python programming!

They coded a 'Birthday Program' to calculate things like:
- Their age
- The day of the week they were born
- How many days they’ve been alive
- A countdown to their next birthday

Parents, would your kids be interested in the next round of coding adventures?

It is a time to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in military service to our country.

As part of Public Works Week, our Public Works clerk provided lunch for the department as a way to recognize the staff who keep things moving each day.

The mayor and the clerk shared a few kind words with the team, and it made the moment feel warm, personal, and well deserved.

We appreciate our Public Works staff and the everyday work they do for this city.
