The Friends of the Harborfields Public Library

The Friends of the Harborfields Public Library Our main objective is to provide additional funding for special programs and items to further enhance our wonderful Library.

The Friends of the Harborfields Public Library is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1970. They are a group of dedicated volunteers who work in cooperation with Library Staff and whose main objective is to provide additional funding for special programs and items to further enhance our wonderful Library. The money they receive from membership fees, fund-raising events and the proceeds fr

om the Friends' Little Book Shop, helps them to sponsor various programs at the Library. The Sunday Concert Series, Adult, Young Adult and Children's Summer Reading Programs, bus trips to cultural events and other special programs throughout the year all receive additional funding from the Friends. Over the years the Friends have donated many items to the Library for the whole community to enjoy. The Grand Piano, our Community Room Audio Visual System, the beautiful mural that welcomes you into the Children's Room - and most recently the new Digital Display System for the lobby and meeting room area are all examples of Friends' donations. Your membership in the Friends entitles you to receive preference for registration on our very popular bus trips and for special Friends' sponsored events. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping the Harborfields Public Library!

We’re Drawn to the Library—are you?
It’s National Library Week (April 6–12), and the Friends of Harborfields Public Library are celebrating with something sweet and something to read!

Stop by our table (in the lobby Mon, Wed, & Fri and outside the Book Shop Tues, Thurs, & Sat) to:
• Grab a FREE lollipop (because sugar fuels reading, obviously)
• Snag a FREE bookmark (because dog-earing is a crime)
• Score a bundle of 5 books for just $2—perfect for readers, gifters, and bargain hunters alike

All proceeds support the library you know and love. Come by, stock up, and support your shelves!

Congratulations to "The Gnome-It-Alls"! 👏👏
Harborfields Public Library's team of high school students placed 1st in this year's Advanced Division Battle of the Books competition held at Sachem Public Library. The team competed against 12 teams from participating Suffolk County Libraries. The team's coaches Mary Kim and Kim McCarthy along with Library staff are especially proud of their accomplishment and so are the Friends of the Library! Way to go!

🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

We'll have more to share in the coming days. But what can you do right now? Call your members of Congress. Call your state and local officials. Tell them exactly what's at stake if the President's order stands: the future of America's libraries. It's time to Show Up : bit.ly/ProtectLibraryFunding

Honoring Carol Albano - A Lifelong Advocate for the Friends of the Harborfields Public Library
Carol’s involvement with the Friends of the Library started long before her 36-year career at Harborfields Public Library. As President of the Friends, she was passionate about making the library the heart of the community. She led efforts to raise funds, improve services, and bring people together. Her work showed just how much she believed in the power of libraries and her love for the Harborfields community.

When Carol joined the library staff in 1984, her commitment only grew. As Children’s Librarian, Head of Children’s Services, and later Director, she worked closely with the Friends to create programs and opportunities that brought joy and learning to so many.

Rest in peace, Carol. Your tireless advocacy for libraries and the Friends will always inspire us. ❤️
