Legal and Ethical Violations

Public Contracts Prohibition: Ohio law prohibits public officials or employees from using their position or influence to secure a public contract in which they, a family member, or a business associate have a financial interest.

Felony Offense: Violating the Ohio Ethics Law regarding public contracts is a fourth-degree felony. Any contract entered into in violation of this section is void and unenforceable.

Competitive Bidding Requirements: State law requires that most sales of public lands be conducted via public auction or sealed bids after public notice has been given (usually by publication in a newspaper for several weeks). This ensures transparency and the best value for the public.

Employee Restrictions: Specific municipal codes often explicitly state that no city employee or their immediate family may purchase property from the city except by sealed bid or at a public auction.

Conflict of Interest: Selling property to an employee without an open and competitive process creates a conflict of interest and the potential for self-dealing, which the law aims to prevent

Mr. Jack is having a blast, chasing all the squirrels in the clouds today. After 19+ years, my BFF has completed his term as special friend, support animal and brother to CeeCee. He is resting between the pines in our backyard. RIP, Jack! He certainly was a "Good Dog"!
