Recycling cart updates!

05/15/2026

📣 Time to start using your recycling carts! ♻

Recycling should now always be put out for collection in the new, wheeled carts. If it's not in a cart, it won't be collected!

Please complete this form if you have not received a cart: https://forms.gle/Ptadj5jVB5yrdwM39

How to put your cart out for collection:
✅ Placement: Carts should be placed at the end of your driveway, in the street with the wheels against the curb, or on the greenbelt between the sidewalk and the street.
✅ Spacing: Maintain at least 3 feet of clearance between the cart and objects like parked cars, mailboxes, or other containers.
✅ Face the Street: The lid opening and metal bar must face the street.
✅ Handles Back: Wheels and handles should face your property.
✅ Lids Closed: Carts must be fully closed and not bungeed or tied down.

No more sorting: We switched to single-stream recycling! All recyclables (paper, plastic, glass, metal) can go in your cart together. More information on what can be recycled: https://www.usarecycle.com/single-stream-recycling

The default cart size is 95-gallons. If you requested a second 95-gallon cart, please use the single 95-gallon cart for 90 days. If you still want a second cart after that, you can reach out to DPW, and payment will be coordinated at that time.

What about the old green bins? They're yours to use as you see fit. We encourage folks to use them around the house. Stay tuned for more collection, reuse, and disposal options.

Spring cleaning? Keep those items out of the landfill and donate them!

Hartsprings Foundation will be at the Chapman Davis Lot, 220 Main Street, this Saturday, May 9, 10:00 - 1:00 PM.

Spring cleaning just got easier.

Bring your gently used clothing, shoes, and household items to our Clothing (and more!) Donation Drive on Saturday, May 9th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chapman Davis Lot, 220 Main Street in Greenfield.

Clear some space and feel good knowing your items are being put to better use instead of ending up in the landfill.

Hey Greenfield!

As we continue distributing new recycling carts, we would like to provide clarification regarding cart sizes. Both 95-gallon and 65-gallon carts are blue. Residents previously chose between 65-gallon and 95-gallon options, and you can identify which size you received by checking the stamp on the lid:

- 65-Gallon Cart: ANSI Load Rating: 227.5 LBS
- 95-Gallon Cart: ANSI Load Rating: 332.5 LBS

Please refer to the attached photos for reference.

As a reminder, our distribution team has until May 15 to deliver all carts. If you have not received yours by that date, please contact us then. Please also ensure that only recyclable materials are placed in these carts.

Please note that ordering has been finalized and we only have 65-gallon carts available for those that have previously ordered them. If you're interested in a 65-gallon cart, you can contact us after 90 days to see if we have any available then for you can swap out. The default cart size is 95-gallons.
