Students in the Whitnall High School Life Skills program got into the Halloween spirit by handcrafting spooktacularsock pumpkins! They sold their creations to Whitnall staff members to raise funds for their program and upcoming weekly excursions.

Thank you to all the staff who supported our students and bought a pumpkin. Your support helps make these hands-on learning experiences and community trips possible!

A new school year means another set of featured artists each month! Here are the featured artists of October:

EES - Desmond (K5): The first month in K5 art is all about LINE. Desmond created a lion head, and was inspired by the artist LeRoy Neiman to create a wild mane of different types of line.

EES - Levi (2nd Grade): 2nd grade started off the year learning about space and what makes a successful composition. Levi drew a pumpkin composition using overlapping, cropping, different sizes, and utilizing the whole page. He then added different lights and darks to his pumpkins to make them appear 3D.

HCE - Khyli (K5): HCE K5 students were learning about lines, cutting, gluing and painting.

HCE - All 1st-5th grade: At the start of each school year we always do a group piece of artwork and this year's theme was flowers/blossoms. Every student in 1st -5th grade made a flower to put on the mural for HCE.

WMS - Justin X. (6th Grade): Justin used clay to create his Dr. Seuss inspired clay fairy door before going into the kiln. Masterfully carved and sculpted.

WMS - Jonathan S. (8th Grade): Jonathan used a mixed medium to create a Life in a Jar Abstract Self Portrait. He put a magical twist on a prompt to share what in his life is important and makes him the individual he is.

WMS - Ryan C. (8th Grade): Ryan used mixed medium to create a Life in a Jar. A beautiful mix of stunning shading and tropical vibes.

Last week, Whitnall's Director of Human Resources and Director of Curriculum and Instruction represented our district at the UW-Whitewater Career Fair!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with passionate students, catch up with former alumni, and engage with the next generation of educators.
