🔨🦺 Enthusiasm was infectious at Pendleton Heights Middle School Build Your Future Day. 7th graders eagerly learned about skilled trades with hands-on building projects and construction equipment displays from local companies.

🇺🇸💪I was proud to support a new law STRENGTHENING PROPERTY TAX RELIEF to save HOOSIER VETERANS $46 MILLION👇

✅ 100% DISABLED VETERANS
👉Pay NO property taxes on primary residence

✅ NEW VETERAN PROPERTY TAX CREDITS
👉$350 credit per year for qualifying wartime veterans

✅ ADDITIONAL RELIEF FOR SENIOR CITIZEN VETERANS
👉$250 credit per year for qualifying disabled veterans age 62+

✅ STACK THE CREDITS & SAVE MORE
👉Eligible veterans can receive up to $600 per year in credits

✅ SAVING VETERANS $46.2 Million
👉In additional statewide tax relief for veterans

🇺🇸This is in addition to laws I supported that ✂️ cut taxes to keep more dollars in Hoosiers’ hands:

✅ CUTTING TAXES FOR WORKING HOOSIERS
👉A new law aligns with President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill to deliver tax cuts for hardworking Hoosiers.
👉Under the law, Hoosiers can deduct qualifying tips and overtime pay from their state taxable income for 2026.

✅CUTTING INCOME TAXES & PROPERTY TAXES FOR ALL HOOSIERS
👉Laws I supported in the 2025 session will lower Indiana’s state income tax this year and next to one of the lowest rates in the nation and cap local income taxes to protect taxpayers.
👉Reduce property taxes by $1.3 billion over the next 3 years, with a majority of Hoosiers paying less property tax this year than they did in 2025.
👉Phases in exempting 2/3 of homeowners’ assessed value from property taxes.

🚨DID YOU KNOW we can appeal the property tax assessments we receive?🚨

Recently, we received forms in the mail from the county assessor about next year's assessed value. We have the right to appeal if it is not accurate:

✅ If your assessment went up by more than 5% from last year's assessed value, the county assessor has the burden of proof
✅ By law, your assessment cannot go up as a direct result of your appeal
✅ You can file a FREE form with the County Assessor's office (Form 130)
✅ Deadline is June 15, 2026

👉Property taxes do not go to the state government; every dollar of property taxes is taxed and spent by local governments, including schools, towns, cities and counties.
👉I've been talking with thousands of Hancock and Madison county neighbors about your thoughts on property tax relief and reform, so I want to SHARE this info to ensure everyone is aware we have this option.

🇺🇸It was an honor to offer Memorial Day remarks along with Congressman Jefferson Shreve in remembrance of our fallen heroes and present flags to two Hancock County World War 2 veterans who attended, Delmas Smothers and Homer Christie, both 102 years old.

Holly and I attended ceremonies in Greenfield and New Palestine today. Thank you to Greenfield American Legion Post 119, Brewer & Culley VFW Post #2693, New Palestine American Legion Post 182 and Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard for all you do to honor and care for our veterans in and out of the uniform.

Our armed forces pre-date our nation itself. Wherever freedom is found we find purposeful people who will do anything to defend it on the front lines of that fight.

This 250-year old free nation will endure as long as there are those willing to raise their right hand and do whatever it takes to keep it that way. 🇺🇸
