FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Date: June 9, 2026

Subject: Incident on June 8, 2026 – Roof Fall with Multiple Patients

GREENFIELD, NH – At approximately 08:47 of June 8, 2026, the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department (GFD) and Wilton Ambulance were dispatched to a residence in town following a report that a man had fallen from an approximate 30-foot roof while working on a local home.

Upon arrival, rescue crews found the patient suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. A medical evacuation (med flight) was requested, but unfortunately, the request could not be immediately fulfilled. Crews from Wilton Ambulance and GFD immediately began stabilizing the patient and transported him by ground to Monadnock Community Hospital, where he received further treatment before being flown to a regional trauma center.

During the response, while speaking with bystanders, GFD personnel learned that a second member of the same work crew had also fallen from the roof while attempting to assist the first patient. An ambulance from Peterborough Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the scene, and the second patient was transported by ground to a trauma center.

At this time, no further updates are available on the conditions of either patient.

The Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department extends its sincere thanks to our partners who responded, including Wilton Ambulance, Peterborough Fire and Rescue, the Greenfield Police Department, and the receiving hospitals. We are keeping both patients and their loved ones in our thoughts.

Thank you,
Chief Chaz Babb
Rescue Lieutenant Sam Tarplin

This morning at 10:38, we received a call for a possible brush fire. When Chief Babb arrived, he found a tree that had been struck by lightning during the storm last night. Dylan Fotter and his wife Margaret had used two kitchen fire extinguishers to put the flames out. Thanks to these quick thinking residents, we avoided a possible large brush fire.

We have applications waiting at the station for both of you. πŸš’ πŸš‘
