Today marks Officer Jacob Tootle’s second anniversary with the City of Greenfield! Most days, you will find Officer Tootle serving at Nodaway Valley schools, where he works closely with students and staff, builds positive relationships, and helps provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

His genuine commitment to the people he serves makes him a valued member of the Greenfield Police Department and an excellent police officer.
Thank you, Officer Tootle, for two years of dedicated service to Greenfield!

The Water Treatment Plant is beginning to operate again and GMU has started treating water to replenish the reserves used throughout the day. However, we are not back to normal just yet. Please continue conserving water.

At this time, the water treatment plant is in the early stages of being operational. We are slowly beginning to treat water to replace the stored water that has been used up today.

We ask that our customers continue to conserve water by not consuming for non essential purposes (car washing, garden, yard or flower watering). Water can be used for essential purposes such as cooking, bathing, and laundry. We do ask that you keep showers/baths or laundry loads to a reasonable limit.

While things can change in the blink of an eye as we found out early this morning, if all goes well, we hope that our water reserves will be restored over the remainder of the week and life will return to normal.

Please take this request seriously and begin conserving water immediately. Until further notice, please use water only f...

Looking for a place to enjoy this beautiful Labor Day weekend? Come spend it at Nodaway Lake!
Our campground is looking beautiful, and it’s a great place to slow down, unplug and enjoy a little time outdoors. Bring the camper, cast a line, let the kids play, gather around the campfire and enjoy the lake.

What better way to celebrate the first day of school than with a little Greenfield throwback?
This photo from Greenfield Elementary, 1968–1969, includes a couple of familiar names: future Mayor Brian Fox and future City Council Member Rita (Benton) Eble, long before City Hall meetings, budgets, resolutions, and community projects were on their agendas!
Apparently, public service takes root early in Greenfield.
We hope all Nodaway Valley students, teachers, staff, and families had a fantastic first day and we wish you a great school year ahead!
And for those who grew up here: how many faces in this photo do you recognize?

Great news for Greenfield! The City will receive nearly $589,000 in federal funding to strengthen our wastewater infrastructure and improve disaster preparedness.
The funding will provide backup generators for the wastewater treatment plant and two lift stations, helping these essential facilities continue operating during power outages caused by severe weather.
The City worked closely with USDA throughout the grant process, and staff members from Public Works played a role in helping prepare the successful application. We are grateful for USDA’s partnership and proud of the teamwork that helped secure this important investment.
Following the devastating May 2024 tornado, this project represents another meaningful step toward building a stronger, more resilient Greenfield and protecting critical services during future emergencies.

Greenfield, Iowa, will use a $589,000 federal grant to install backup generators at key water facilities to prepare for future disasters.
