Today, the Greenfield Fire District, along with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers, Providence Volunteer Fire Department , Corinth Fire Department - NY (UAS team), and Town of Corinth, Day, Greenfield EMS , participated in a mock wildland search drill at Twin Leaf Farm.

This was a valuable training opportunity for our members to experience how a coordinated wildland search may be conducted during a real emergency. The Greenfield Fire District’s unmanned aerial system (UAS) and Corinth Fire Department’s UAS were utilized to assist with the search for a missing victim, while ground crews conducted a simultaneous search of the property.

The victim was located by a ground crew and transported to the staging area using our Argo.

We would like to thank all of our members and partnering agencies who participated and helped make this training a success. We also extend a special thank-you to the Middle Grove Auxiliary for providing food and to Maple Bros for generously allowing us to use their property for training.

Exercises like this strengthen coordination between agencies and help ensure we are better prepared to serve our community when an emergency occurs.

We Remember. We Honor. We Will Never Forget.

On September 11, 2001, our nation witnessed an unimaginable tragedy that changed our country forever.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, including the firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to help others.

We also remember the families who lost loved ones and the countless people whose lives were forever changed that day.

As members of the fire service, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and commitment demonstrated by those who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

We remember their names.
We honor their sacrifice.
We will never forget.

🚲 RIDE SMART. RIDE SAFE.

If you’re riding your bike on the road, remember to travel in the same direction as traffic and stay as far to the right as safely possible. Always wear a properly fitted helmet, stay visible, follow traffic signs and signals, and remain alert to the vehicles and people around you. Drivers and cyclists both have a role to play in keeping our roads safe. Share the road and look out for one another!

🎒🚍 School is starting, and it’s time to slow down and stay alert!

Please watch for children near schools, bus stops, and crosswalks, put the phone away while driving, and always buckle up. Always obey the law when a school bus has its red flashing lights activated and stop as required.

Did you know? Even fire trucks must stop for a school bus displaying red flashing lights. No emergency response takes priority over keeping children safe as they enter or exit the bus.

Let’s work together to make sure every student gets to and from school safely!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007 and City of Albany employee injured today.

This afternoon, a member of our local/department, was involved in a critical incident during the course of his duties, causing serious injuries and was subsequently airlifted to a hospital out of the area, following treatment on scene by Albany Fire Department personnel.

While this incident continues to unfold, we ask the Albany community, brother and sister firefighters, and the public in general to keep our member and his family in your thoughts.
