Words cannot express how amazing this community is! We served just over 350 meals tonight and took in just shy of $12,000 in donations. Not to mention all of the food was donated as well.
Huge thank you goes out to: West Forty for helping with the food supplies as well as hand pressing all of the hamburgers, Greene Recorder for helping with the advertising, Butler County Dairy Promoters for the malt machines, the families of the department members (wives, children, grandkids, & girlfriends), all the department members, and of course everyone that ventured out to be with us tonight! We will see you all again next year.

It’s hard to believe that next weekend is the 4th of July. We will be having our annual Supper at the Station on Saturday The 4th from 5-7. Hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, beans, chips and of course ice cream.
All proceeds will go towards replacing our self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
These packs are used for all types of responses from: carbon monoxide calls, structure fires, vehicle fires, and hazardous materials calls. They supply our firefighters with fresh clean breathable air when the atmosphere they are working in is dangerous.

Just to let everyone know we will be conducting an exercise of a simulated head on collision with students from North Butler High School. This will take place Friday May 22 at 1pm at the intersection of 5th st. and Traer. Agencies involved will be Greene Ambulance, Greene Fire, Allison Ambulance, University of Iowa Aircare, Butler County sheriff’s deputies, Butler County EMS, Butler County EMA and North Butler High School. This exercise is to show students the dangers of distracted driving. We will be having an Aircare helicopter also land and take off from the football practice field. This exercise should only last about an hour. So please use extreme caution around this area during this time.

In light of recent events, we would like to remind everyone that while technology and social media is so much a part of all of our lives, if you come upon any emergency situatuon please be very cautious about sharing information or images. We never know whose loved one may see the information, even when shared privately. An emergency situatuon may seem minor but could be very serious or even fatal. Would you want to learn that your child or loved one was injured in an accident or worse? Or that your home was on fire? We encourage everyone to please think about what you are posting and the impact it could have on someone else's loved ones.
