Today members of Coventry Emergency Squad, Inc. and Coventry Volunteer Fire Company had an intro to Pet First Aid. Thank you to Dog Grooming and Boarding at The Canine Canal for teaching the course and providing us with two pet first aid kits. As well as Pet Street Station Animal Hospital for donating a pet oxygen mask kit.

Although we don’t respond to emergencies specific to pets, these skills and items donated will provide our crews the ability to assist during events such as fires where pets are involved.

Last Thursday Coventry EMS was asked by Spotlight on Afton CSD to attend their career night! We truly appreciate being involved in the communities we serve! Let us know if you have an event that you’d like us to attend, Boy/Girl Scouts youth groups are a big focus of ours!

Congratulations to our very own Kyle Griffith! Tonight our Squad Captain was awarded by our governing body Susquehanna Regional EMS Council, Inc. as Chenango County’s ALS Provider of the Year!

Paramedic Griffith has worked very hard to advance the level of care in our communities by dedicating countless hours on our ambulance and working for Chenango County Office of Emergency Services as an ALS Fly Car.

Not only did we announce the newest addition to our fleet yesterday. We also held a youth first aid class for ages 10+. This class had four students and the invaluable skills they learned will continue to grow as they take additional courses. Be sure to check out www.coventryems.org for future trainings!

Coventry Emergency Squad, Inc. has purchased this pre-owned 2003 Horton 623 on a Freightliner FL60 with a Cummins Diesel from VCI Emergency Vehicles. Her primary task will be to be staged at local events providing on site EMS, while keeping their primary Ambulance available to still cover the Town.

Unlike most dealerships who only keep the “cherry” trades for their lot and turf off all others to whole sale buyers, VCI retains every trade we take in because we know not everyone has the budget for just “cherry” pre-owned Ambulances!

We hit all the check boxes with this unit for Coventry:
- Gas engine or pre emmissions Diesel.
- Large Module.
- Still in “good shape”.
- No major mechanical issues needing repair prior to purchase or placing into service.
- Configured to meet their needs so no additional changes or modifications needed.
- Meets their budget
- BONUS - Silver is their color and while not fully silver, it is half way there!

This is a great safety guide for children swimming in lakes and swimming pools. The color of the bathing suit can make it easier or more difficult to see children while they are swimming. This is a good reminder to always have adult supervision when children are swimming. (Thanks to Praire Lakes Healthcare System.)
