Owen County 911 is hiring for full time Dispatchers. Applications must be submitted by November 21, 2025.

Owen County FULL Time Dispatcher FAQ's

APPLICANT MUST:

Have a high school diploma or have GED equivalent.

Complete and submit an application. Applications may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or delivered to the above address.

Be 18 years of age.

Not have a conviction of a Class A Misdemeanor or above.

Pass job required schooling (partial list includes CPR certification, Emergency Medical-Fire-Police Dispatch certification, FBI/NCIC operator course, etc.) All training is paid for by your employer once you are hired.

Pass interview and background check process.

Be an Owen County resident or resident of a county that adjoins Owen.

Pass Drug Screen.

Be willing to work flexible hours.

Once hired, the dispatcher will be required to pass periodic drug screening and periodic performance reviews.

HOURS:

The work schedule is flexible and variable. This is a 24X7 operation including holidays. Overtime may be required and is paid at the 1.5 rate. The shifts are 12 hours (36 one week, 48 the next week), with every other weekend off.

BENEFITS:

Full time employees earn Paid Time Off (PTO) based on longevity.

HOURS:

· Work schedule is flexible and variable. This is a 24x7 operation including holidays. Over time maybe required and is paid at the 1.5 rate. The basic work week is a 40-hour week (can be 8 or 10 hour days).

· Training will mostly be on the job (OJT) and will require employer provided and paid for certified training. Initial hires are on probationary pay for six months of about $1,847.12 salaried every two weeks (or about $23.09 per hour). Once probationary period is passed (by performance evaluation), current full base salary is $1,885.58 every two weeks (or about $23.57 per hour).

· The position open at this hire is what we call the “float shift”, which means your shift can change from month to month. The float shift fills vacation and other vacancies created by full time employees with more seniority. Shifts are generally assigned by seniority and, as a general practice, are somewhat fixed.

· Full time employees earn Paid time off hours based on longevity. Hours here are generally flexible.
