Warden Brown arrived at IWP as Warden in 2021 and was greatly cherished. She was known for her charisma and leadership impacting countless lives both inside and outside of the Facility.

Lieutenant Berry began his career at Pendleton Juvenile in 2013, rising through the ranks to Lieutenant. During his time at PNJ, he served as a Quick Response Team instructor, SART member, CIF E-Squad Leader, and IDOC Honor Guard Team Leader.

In 2020, he joined ERO SERT, graduated from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier II as a Correctional Police Officer, and instructed multiple academies. He’s also a graduate of the National Honor Guard Academy, NTOA Crisis Negotiations courses, and the Leadership Academy. In January 2026, Lt. Berry transferred to Rockville Correctional Facility as a Sergeant.

Putnamville Correctional Facility is proud to announce the promotion of Jason Wilson to Lieutenant!

Lt. Wilson began his IDOC career in 2011 after earning his bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana State University. Throughout his career, he has gained experience in trips, Quick Response Team, restrictive housing, control, healthcare, and has served as an instructor for Principles of Custody Supervision.

In 2018, he completed his master’s degree in Justice Studies from Southern New Hampshire University. As a sergeant, he consistently supported other shifts with overtime and most recently served as the street sergeant on K‑Bracket.

Putnamville Correctional Facility is proud to announce the promotion of Steven Burton to Safety Hazard Manager!

Steven has shown outstanding dedication to safety, compliance, and professional growth. Since May 2024, he’s served as our facility locksmith, overseeing key control, lock repair, and access management. His broad experience in custody operations, along with his service on the Putnamville Fire Department and DOC Technical Response Team, has prepared him well for this role.

He brings extensive certifications, including Firefighter I & II, Hazmat Operations/Technician, Fi****ms Instructor, Use of Force Instructor, Active Shooter Response Instructor, Personal Protection Instructor, OC Instructor, Locksmith, CPR/First Aid, and OSHA 30.

Putnamville Correctional Facility is proud to announce the promotion of Richard Criss to Captain!

Captain Criss began his career at the Putnamville Correctional Facility in 2006, marking the start of what has become a distinguished 20-year tenure in corrections and law enforcement. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to public safety.

A graduate of the 210th Basic Class at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Criss continued to advance his expertise through specialized training and leadership development. He is a 2022 Leadership Academy Graduate and completed the Executive Emerging Leaders (EEL) program in 2024, further strengthening his strategic and supervisory capabilities.

Captain Criss currently serves as the K-9 Field Commander, overseeing operations and handling within one of the facility’s most specialized units. He is also a state-certified fi****ms instructor, training officers in safe, effective, and disciplined weapons handling.

With two decades of hands-on experience, formal training, and proven leadership, Criss has built a career defined by dedication, integrity, and service to his community and the State of Indiana. We are excited to see him exceed in his new role.

We’re excited to welcome Mary Braun to her new role here at the Putnamville Correctional Facility!

Mary began her career with FSSA in 2013 as an Eligibility Specialist and later served as a State Eligibility Consultant, where she spent 13 years providing compassionate, accurate, and professional support to individuals and families across Indiana.

On August 30, 2026, Mary will officially join our team as a Caseworker. We’re thrilled to have her bring her dedication and expertise to our facility, and we look forward to the positive impact she’ll make in this next chapter of her career.

Putnamville Correctional Facility is proud to announce the promotion of Jeremy Bault to Unit Team Manager!

Jeremy began his career with the Indiana Department of Correction in 2007 as a Correctional Officer. He joined Unit Team in 2021 as a Caseworker and advanced to Casework Manager in 2024. Over the years, Jeremy has built a strong foundation in communication, leadership, and collaboration, consistently demonstrating his commitment to supporting staff and upholding the department’s mission. He earned his Associate of Science degree from Vincennes University in 2017.

Jeremy is well known for fostering strong professional relationships and being someone his team can count on. He values teamwork, clear communication, and creating an environment where staff feel supported and empowered. His dedication to continued growth is evident through his leadership training, his role as an instructor for Influential Leadership, and his service as a member of the department’s Critical Incident Stress Management team.

As Jeremy steps into his new role as Unit Team Manager, we are confident he will continue to make a positive impact and further strengthen our team.
