Today is National Dog Walker Appreciation Day! Greenbelt Park has 9 miles of hiking trails, perfect for a walk with our furry friends. While out and about, stop by the Ranger Station from 8 AM to 3:45 PM to get your BARK Ranger badges! Remember to always B - bag your waste, A - always use a leash, R - respect wildlife, and K - know where you can go.

Dogwood Trail Nature Hike - Sunday, September 13th - 1:00 PM

Join us for three fun and engaging programs this week! Perfect for kids and young adults throughout the DC area. Come and learn about how to build a fire and a campsite with Ranger Jim on Saturday, and attend our nature hike on Sunday!

This Saturday, join the Ranger Staff for a special program honoring the 25th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

On September 11th, 2001, the National Park Service and United States Park Police responded to the terrorist attacks with bravery and courage. Come and learn about how NPS rangers and Park Police officers in both New York City and Washington, DC responded to the attacks and how we currently protect the legacy of those lost on that Tuesday morning.

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Due to the extreme heat, Greenbelt Park Ranger Station will remain open as a cooling station for campers and visitors until 8:00 PM today, tomorrow, and Saturday.

Remember to take the heat seriously this week and to continue to hydrate! Remember to follow these tips from the American Red Cross:

- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
- Wear lightweight clothing.
- Limit exposure during hottest parts of the day.
- Use air-conditioned spaces.
- Check on your loved ones and neighbors.
