With cold weather on the horizon, members of the RVFD met tonight to review cold related emergencies and how to provide the best care possible for individual experiencing a cold related emergency. We also discussed prevention of injuries related to cold weather and some of the nuances related to patient care in the event of extreme winter weather (bitter cold, blizzards, etc).

We closed out the night by discussing our personal readiness and how we can make sure that we are better prepared to respond during harsh conditions.

No matter the weather, we stand ready to protect our friends and neighbors should they need us.

As the last lights go out in the station tonight, our hearts are full.
From all of us at Rapid Valley Fire, thank you to our friends, families, and the citizens of Rapid Valley who came out for tonightโ€™s Pancake Supper. Nearly a thousand people joined us for a meal at our table โ€” your support means the world to us.

The donations received tonight will go directly toward funding protective equipment, firefighting tools, and other essentials that help us serve our community safely and effectively.

From the bottom of our hearts โ€” thank you for showing up, for sharing a meal, and for standing with your volunteers.

Tonight, the Rapid Valley Fire Department had the honor of hosting more than 100 members of the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), who traveled from across the United States to attend their annual conference.

The NVFC is a nationwide organization dedicated to strengthening the volunteer fire service. Through advocacy, education, and resources, they create opportunities for departments of all sizes to connect, grow, and better serve their communities. Their work ensures that volunteer firefighters have a strong voice and the support they need to carry out their mission.

In every firehouse, it is often said that many of lifeโ€™s problems can be solved around the supper table. Whether in the kitchen, the day room, or --like here in Rapid Valley --gathered in the back of the apparatus bay, sharing a meal together builds connection, camaraderie, and resilience.

We are truly grateful to the NVFC for honoring us by joining us at our table tonight. It was a privilege to break bread with so many dedicated men and women who share the same calling: to serve, protect, and stand ready for our communities.

Twenty-four years ago tonight, countless fathers, daughters, wives, and sons sat in anguish, not knowing if their loved ones would return.

Though the passage of time may have eased some of the pain, we must never allow the memory of that day or the sacrifices made then and since to fade.

May we honor the courage of the fallen, the resilience of the survivors, and the unwavering strength of their families. And may God continue to grant peace to the living and comfort to all who mourn.

We would like to congratulate FF Mossman, FF Hodson, and FF Hertzler for completing and passing their Firefighter I & II certification class and meeting the requirements to receive their blue helmets.

We would also like to congratulate FF Winegar and FF Galloway for completing their trainee period and meeting the requirements to receive their blue helmets.

The blue helmet is a symbol of full membership in the Rapid Valley Fire Department, signifying that the wearer is fully qualified in Firefighter I & II. Those who earn it will wear it proudly as they serve the Rapid Valley community.

As the 85th Sturgis Rally winds down, we want to remind everyone on the roads to remain vigilant and drive carefully and responsibly. Stay alert and be respectful of others on the road, regardless of how many wheels are underneath their vehicle or yours.

Yesterday we responded to our first motorcycle related call of the 85th Sturgis Rally. We believe that one tragedy is too many. We issue this reminder with the hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.
