Some exciting news is hatching at Expedition Academy… literally. Our classroom corn snake, Ada, has laid TWELVE eggs! Ada, a 6-year-old snake named after mathematician Ada Lovelace, is a favorite among students who help care for her daily by monitoring her habitat, cleaning her enclosure, and collecting data.

Senior Alyssa Mahana discovered the eggs during routine cleaning this morning, turning an ordinary day into an unforgettable science lesson. The eggs appear viable since Ada shares her enclosure with a male snake donated by the same family. This summer, the eggs will be incubated by Deananne Kenevovith of Joe’s Pet Place, a longtime supporter of Expedition Academy’s exotic animal education program.

Moments like this show the value of hands-on science education. Our students are not just reading about biology — they are experiencing it firsthand, and now, twelve tiny snakes are waiting to make their debut into the world.
