Did you know that today marks the 75th Anniversary of the Fire at Rockwood Lodge?
This is an infamous day in Green Bay Packers and Brown County Parks history. Many of us are familiar with the current Packers practice facilities, but have you ever heard of the Rockwood Lodge? It was the practice facility and provided housing for the Packers from 1946 to 1950. The team referred to the Lodge as “The Rock”. Unfortunately, Rockwood Lodge burned down on January 24, 1950, marking the end of an era at Bay Shore Park. Another era soon started once Brown County purchased the property and established Bay Shore County Park, its campground, and its boat launch.
