We did it!

Because of the incredible generosity of our community, and the support of an anonymous matching donor, we are thrilled to share that we have officially met our $25,000 matching gift challenge — unlocking a total of $50,000 to support neighbors experiencing homelessness.

This achievement belongs to all of you. It is a powerful reminder that when our community comes together, lives are changed and futures are strengthened. Every donation and every act of generosity helped make this possible. Together, you are creating real opportunities for those in need.

• Supporting 20 women each night with safety and dignity at our new Women's Stability Shelter.
• Serving over 110 individuals through our Lasting Change Program, with over 95% maintaining stable housing.
• Providing shelter, dignity and hope to an average of 140 guests each night during the Cold Weather Season.

From all of us at St. John’s Ministries, thank you for believing in our mission and standing alongside neighbors working toward a brighter tomorrow. Your generosity continues to make a lasting impact.

Thank you Navarino Neighborhood for inviting us to spend the morning with you! We are grateful to be viewed as neighbors and valuable members of this community.

We had a great time working with our partners at St. John's Ministries to clean up the neighborhood this past weekend! Be on the lookout for more fun activities this summer!

A generous donor is matching every gift to St. John’s Ministries up to $25,000 — meaning your support can help unlock a total of $50,000 for neighbors experiencing homelessness. Thanks to initial donors and their generosity, we're close to meeting the match!

With the support of our community:
• The Women’s Stability Shelter opened its doors for the first time ever. In the first two weeks of our Warm Weather Season an average of 20 women are receiving supportive services and safety on their journey to independence.
• 110 individuals are receiving aftercare support through our Lasting Change Program, with 96% maintaining stable housing.
• Our emergency shelters provided dignity and hope for an average of 140 guests this past Cold Weather Season. A critical resource during the harsh winter months.

Together, we’re doing more than providing shelter — we’re building stronger futures in a city that takes care of its own.

Donate here - http://stjohnsgreenbay.org/?form=FUNPWBDJLDE - and help us close the final $5,000 gap and maximize this matching opportunity today!

Last weekend, we had the joy of gathering with many of the incredible volunteers who make the work of St. John's Ministries possible every single day.

Our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast is a small token of gratitude for the countless hours, compassionate hearts, and unwavering dedication our volunteers bring to our community. Simply put: we could not do this work without you.

And thank you for the generosity of community partners who helped make the morning so special. The delicious breakfast was entirely donated by Oneida Casino Hotel, beautiful centerpiece flowers were donated by De Pere Greenhouse & Floral, and Festival Foods also provided support for the event.

To every volunteer, supporter, and community partner: thank you for helping create a community rooted in dignity, compassion, and care. We are so grateful for you.

Sometimes, the smallest acts of compassion can remind someone that they are seen and valued.

We were grateful to partner with Thrivent and Sackcloth & Ashes for a day centered on learning, service, and human connection.

After touring the facilities and learning more about homelessness in our community, volunteers spent the afternoon serving hamburgers and hot dogs at the Micah Center and Wellspring. Alongside meals, they handed out blankets and shared words of encouragement with neighbors experiencing homelessness.

What made the day meaningful wasn’t only the food or the blankets — it was the willingness to listen, connect, and meet people with dignity and compassion.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with open hearts. Moments like these remind us that community care changes lives — for all of us.

After our last Poverty Simulation, two participants with lived experience shared something we won’t forget:

“This felt accurate.”
“This is important.”

That kind of feedback matters.

Because while no simulation can fully capture someone’s lived experience, it can open the door to deeper understanding and that’s where change begins.

At St. John’s Ministries, we believe awareness is a powerful first step toward action.

If you’ve ever wondered what navigating poverty might feel like or how you can better support your neighbors... this experience is for you.

Every night, men in our community face a simple but urgent question: Where will I sleep?

At St. John’s Ministries, our Men’s Shelter provides safety, dignity, and support during the cold-weather months and continues to walk alongside men through our Safe Sleep program in the warmer months.

Join us for a Community Tour on Wednesday, May 13 at 12PM in downtown Green Bay.

In just one lunch hour, you’ll:
• Walk through the shelter space
• Learn who we serve and how eligibility works
• Understand the transition from Emergency Shelter to Safe Sleep
• Ask questions and engage in meaningful conversation

If the date and time looks different - it is! We adjusted the date and time to better accommodate our guest services and privacy.

We hope you’ll join us.

Thank you to WBAY TV-2 for helping us spread the word that we’re piloting keeping our Women’s Shelter open through October to provide stability, not interruption.

Too often, progress is lost when shelter season ends. This program helps women keep moving forward - saving money, securing housing, and building a path out of homelessness.

We’re grateful for the partners, volunteers, and supporters helping make this possible.

Last week, our Executive Director, Jesse Brunette, had the opportunity to connect with Alderman Ben DeBaker—Green Bay City Council, District 9. Alder DeBaker represents District 9 in Green Bay, including the neighborhood our Men’s Shelter calls home.

You may recognize Alder DeBaker from January, when he stepped up during the cold spell to prepare and donate ready-to-eat meals for those in need.

Their conversation focused on the realities of homelessness in our community, the barriers many of our guests face, and how we can continue working together toward solutions.

We’re grateful for leaders who show up, listen, and are committed to building a stronger, more compassionate Green Bay for everyone.
