🌡️ Stay safe out there — it's hot! 🌡️

When temperatures soar, your body works overtime. Here's how to stay cool, safe, and healthy:

✅Stay hydrated. Drink water consistently throughout the day — don't wait until you're thirsty. Aim for 8+ glasses and avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks.

✅Seek shade. Limit time in direct sunlight, especially between 10 am and 4 pm when UV rays are strongest.

✅Dress smart. Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Don't forget your hat and sunscreen!

✅Cool down often. Use a fan, or head to an air-conditioned space if you don't have A/C at home.

✅Check on others. Elderly neighbors, young children, and pets are especially vulnerable. A quick check-in could save a life.

✅Know heat stroke signs. Confusion, no sweating, red/hot skin, and rapid pulse = call 911 immediately. Heat stroke is a medical emergency.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice is the foundation of our freedom, and their memory lives on in all of us.

To the fallen and the families who carry them – we honor you, and we will never forget.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a fire in a duplex on Finger Road. GBMFD crews arrived on scene and found fire coming out of windows on the second level of the home. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire while simultaneously rescuing three victims from a second-floor window. Incident Command upgraded to a working still alarm level, which brought additional units to the scene. Two victims were transported by ambulance, and the third was given a ride by a family member to a local hospital. The two victims who were transported by EMS are in serious condition.

Three firefighters were treated on scene for heat and smoke inhalation. One of those firefighters was then transported to an area hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.

The GBMFD would like to remind residents to have working smoke detectors and to check them regularly.

We would like to thank the Green Bay Police Department, Howard Fire, WPS, Brown County Emergency Communications, and the Red Cross for their assistance.

🔥 Fire Safety Reminders 🔥

As you prepare for the weekend, please keep these safety tips in mind.

🚨Keep grills clear. Never grill on a deck, porch, or near structures. Keep a 3-foot zone around the grill clear of people and flammable materials.

🚨Never leave fires unattended. Whether it's a campfire, grill, or bonfire — always have a responsible adult watching at all times.

🚨Fully extinguish before leaving. Douse campfires and coals with water, stir, and repeat until cold to the touch.

🚨Know your emergency numbers. Always call 911 in an emergency.

🚒🔥 Congratulations to Our Newest Firefighters! 🔥🚒

We are incredibly proud to announce the successful completion of our 8-week Firefighter Recruit Academy by four outstanding individuals!

These recruits dedicated themselves to an intensive training program, developing the skills, knowledge, and teamwork needed to serve and protect our community. From mastering firefighting techniques to emergency medical response, and so much more — they gave everything they had to earn their place on this department.

But the journey wasn't theirs alone. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the families of our new firefighters. Tonight, department spouses took the time to meet with recruit families to share what life as a firefighter family truly looks like — the sacrifices, the pride, and the unique bond that comes with supporting someone who runs toward danger so others can run to safety. Your support at home makes everything they do possible.

To our four newest members — your community is ready for you, and so are your crews. You will now be out on the streets, side by side with experienced firefighters, responding to calls and making a difference every single day.

Welcome to the brotherhood and sisterhood of the fire service.

Today, we are excited to introduce Nebraska Thorson. Nebraska comes to Green Bay Metro Fire Department from Mason City, Iowa, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and firefighting experience. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from the University of Northern Iowa and went on to complete his fire certifications through Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

Before joining Green Bay Metro, Nebraska spent four and a half years as a Paid-on-Call firefighter with the Suamico Fire Department, while simultaneously working as a Manufacturing Engineer — a combination that speaks to his dedication.

When he's not at the firehouse, Nebraska enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs. He's a sports fan at heart, with a love for football and motorsports, and likes to stay busy with woodworking and metalworking projects or getting outside whenever he can.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department is thrilled to welcome Nebraska to the team!

Today, we are happy to introduce Tyler "TJ" LaCrosse. TJ is a local face, hailing from De Pere and now bringing his talents home to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. He earned his associate degree in Fire and Paramedic Studies from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, building a strong foundation for a career in both fire and emergency medical services.

Before joining Green Bay Metro, TJ gained valuable experience volunteering with the Greenleaf Volunteer Fire Department and spent five years as a 911-based paramedic with Lifestar Emergency Medical Services in Waupun, where he honed his skills in high-pressure emergency response.

When he's not on duty, TJ enjoys the outdoors — hiking, hunting, and snowboarding. But his favorite adventures are whatever his daughter has in mind that day.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department is excited to welcome TJ to our department.

We are excited to introduce Brady Eichmeier. Brady grew up in Potter, WI, before finishing his high school years in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He went on to earn his degree in Fire Protection from Fox Valley Technical College.

Brady's firefighting career began close to home, serving with both the Suamico Fire Department and De Pere Fire Rescue before joining the Green Bay Metro team. His experience across multiple local departments makes him a familiar and trusted face in the greater Green Bay community.

Outside of the firehouse, Brady loves the outdoors and spending time on the water. You'll often find him on the golf course, hanging out with friends, or seeking out new adventures with his wife.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department is thrilled to have Brady on board!
