Edison Middle School

Edison Middle School Edison Middle School is a vibrant, diverse school community on Green Bay's east side. Edison Middle School boasts a very diverse student population.

With more than 1,150 students, this diversity is one of Edison’s strengths and has afforded an opportunity to offer a wide range of curricular and co-curricular options including sports, theatre, musical and choral performances, and community service opportunities. Edison has led the way when it comes to advancing quality instruction in an effort to improve student achievement. Staff members work

collaboratively within professional learning communities following the Gradual Release of Responsibility framework to craft units of study that provide rigor and relevance with the Common Core State Standards. Teachers also work collaboratively with a literacy coach, math coach and ladder coach for the purpose of ensuring success for all students. Edison is proud to offer a two-way bilingual program that aims to nurture and develop bilingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural students with strong thinking and reasoning skills. These students will perform in both languages and develop cross-cultural awareness that will prepare them to thrive and compete in a global market. All sixth grade students participate in a Reading/Language Arts block class which teaches them the skills to be lifelong learners. They also rotate through exploratory blocks that include art, tech ed, computer literacy, family/consumer science and health education. Seventh and eighth grade students at Edison Middle School have the opportunity to participate in the AVID (Achievement via Individual Determination). The AVID program provides a comprehensive system to support students academically, socially, and emotionally so they are prepared to attend a four-year university.
