Chances are someone in your neighborhood or circle of friends is one of the multitudes living paycheck to paycheck, unable to overcome any unexpected turn of events – or maybe it’s you. Freedom House is here to help. We’re the only shelter in Brown County providing assistance to all types of homeless families with children – single Moms, single Dads or couples, no matter how many kids they have. WAY more than “3 hots and a cot,” we change lives – and 92% of the people who come through our doors never return to homelessness.

A safe place to stay is important. But lasting stability takes more than a roof over your head.

That’s why we’re excited to partner with Safe Families for Children — helping families build meaningful relationships with people who can walk alongside them not only during their time at Freedom House, but beyond their stay at shelter.

These lasting connections can help reduce isolation and provide an added layer of stability as families move forward into housing and independence.

Something worth repeating from Seeds for Change, our recent signature event.

Three partners — Community First Credit Union, J.J. Keller Foundation and Friends of Freedom House — have committed $70,000 in matching funds honoring Freedom House's 35th anniversary. This challenge match reflects on our history and foundation, while looking ahead at serving more families experiencing homelessness.

The challenge match is unlocked two ways. A new donor's gift is matched dollar-for-dollar and current supporters who go above and beyond last year's giving will be matched.

The deadline is December 31.

We're honored to announce that Associated Bank has awarded Freedom House a grant to strengthen two pillars that transform families' journeys toward stability: housing navigation and economic mobility.

Housing navigation means families aren't alone in the complicated search for safe, affordable homes. It means a Housing Navigator walks alongside them through applications, lease negotiations, and the move-in process. Families learn their rights and know how to build relationships with landlords.

Economic mobility means families aren't stuck. Success Coaches guide families on employment pathways, budgeting strategies, understanding benefits, and making smart financial decisions that build long-term stability.

Overall, a single parent can find better work and families stop just surviving and start building.

Associated Bank gets it. They understand that real support isn't one-size-fits-all. It's targeted, practical, and connected to what families actually need to succeed.

We need CNAs to care for our parents. We need childcare employees to care for our kids.
