Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. Texas was the most remote of the slave states, and the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863, was not enforced in Texas until after the Confederacy collapsed.
Juneteenth is celebrated with food, music and gatherings in communities across the U.S.

Congratulations to Kristina for winning her election, and a job well done to both Mandela and Hannah. We are proud of all three of you!

Don't forget that tomorrow is Election Day! If you live on campus you can vote here. Voting will be taking place in the Phoenix Rooms.

If you still haven't registered to vote, you can still do that! Just bring proof of your address (which can be found in your SIS for campus residents) and a valid ID.

Regardless of where you are voting, make sure that you GO VOTE!
