We're so excited to announce our new collaboration with Lion's Mouth Bookstore!

From June 1st to August 1st, receive 15% off of "Bamboo Son" by Pao Lor at Lion's Mouth Bookstore as a part of our quarterly "Lit Pick"! We hope that this collaboration serves to better connect our community with the stories of people like our students. At the core of our organization are stories of survival, resilience, and hope. Each quarter, we'll be promoting a different book that centers the cultures and journeys of our students. With so many countries of origin represented at Literacy Green Bay, the possibilities will be endless! We miss our learners!🫶

As the Literacy Green Bay staff gears up for the start of the summer session on Monday with a short break this week, we've taken a moment to appreciate the hustle and bustle that comes with our programming. We miss the sound of chatter from students learning from their teachers, tutors, and each other.👥💗

Literacy Green Bay's office is closed on May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no classes or tutoring sessions, and the office will reopen on May 26th. Thank you, and have a happy holiday weekend!

So much to celebrate✨👏

Despite the rainy weather on Sunday, we came together at Kennedy Park with students and their families to celebrate all of the accomplishments from this spring's session of English Language Learning classes.

One amazing aspect of our program is the blending of cultures and formation of new friendships that happen within the classroom. Through these relationships, students feel a sense of belonging and community. At our picnic, students were thrilled to bring dishes to share and learn more about each other through food.

Without an environment like Literacy Green Bay, our students don't have the opportunity to connect at a deeper level. These relationships help them to feel not alone as they continue their strides towards planting roots in Green Bay.

Thank you to Wis-Pak for donating soda to the celebration, and to Chick-fil-A Bellevue, WI for donating free sandwich cards!💚💚

Thank you to Greater Green Bay Chamber's Current Young Professionals for hosting us at their Connections for a Cause event last night!💚✨

We were honored to have the opportunity to connect with local young professionals alongside eight other non-profits. Our Development and Communications Coordinator, Grace, was able to address the crowd and talked about how they can support Literacy Green Bay.

As an activity to get everyone engaged with our work, participants made congratulatory postcards for students finishing their English Language Learning sessions this month!

Additionally, Grace asked that every person who attended sign with their name and companies on a big sign that will welcome attendees to our picnic to celebrate the accomplishments of all of our students. Many of our students are young professionals as well, hoping to pursue different career paths in a new country. Through Literacy Green Bay programming, we work to support those goals and aspirations!💪💪

We were selected as a grantee because of our dedication to providing adults in our community with English Language Learning services. We are looking forward to using the instructional materials we received to increase our impact! Thank you ProLiteracy for your support!📚💚✨

Every spring, we celebrate the accomplishments of our English Language Learning classes with a picnic that brings our program families and friends together. Students bring dishes to share and stories to tell. It's one of our favorite days of the year!🫶

Here at Literacy Green Bay, we are so grateful to have a team of amazing English Language Learning teachers who support the goals and dreams of our students every week.

Our teachers recognize that learning involves more than just reading books and writing words. They create supportive and fun environments that students want to return to session after session. From themed classroom parties to hands-on activities, our teachers go above and beyond for their students!👏👏

As we wrap up , we wanted to express our gratitude to all of the volunteers who support our organization💚💚

Our tutoring program alone supports 101 students with 92 volunteers. These individuals contribute about 300 hours on average of donated time a month! With their support, students are gaining the confidence in their skills to achieve great things📖💪

Not only do we have our wonderful tutors to thank, but we also have an incredibly supportive team of volunteers who support our programs behind the scenes. Thank you to our board and administrative volunteers who guide us and keep our operations running smoothly! 👏💚✨
