Attempt to Identify-Theft Case

On May 12, WCSO patrol took a theft report from a business located in the 800 block of Weld County Road 27.

The victim alleged the suspect pictured in this post skimmed a company fuel card and used it at several Maverik gas station locations all over the Colorado Springs area.

The vehicle associated with the suspect is a silver pickup with a fuel tank in the back; no plates were on the truck in the video footage.
The suspect appears to be:
• A Hispanic male
• Tattoo on the back of his neck that reaches above his collar
• A stylized writing tattoo on his neck under his left ear
• Pierced lower earlobes

Orphaned Kittens Find a Mom Thanks to ACO and Local Shelter

A concerned landowner was certain the four kittens that she found in different locations on her property had been abandoned by their mother. The landowner called dispatch to get one of our Animal Control Officers (ACO’s) out to her location to help the kittens.

When ACO Lammers arrived, she noticed two of kittens had lower body temperatures. She placed them in a box on her truck dash, so they could get the warmth of the sun.

When ACO Lammers arrived at the shelter, the foster team was worried about the kittens because their mother hadn’t removed the placentas from their bodies.
After the foster team warmed up the kittens, they were introduced to a nursing mama cat in hopes she would accept and care for them.

We are happy to report that the mama cat is nursing the four orphaned kittens along with the three kittens she gave birth to and they are all doing well! Soon, the local shelter will place the kittens with a foster family until they find their fur-ever homes. What a purr-fect ending!

Starting Tuesday, June 2nd the paving project will shift from Phase 5 (gold outlined area) to Phase 4 (black outlined area). This area runs from the entrance of the Law Enforcement Administration Building to the east side of the North Jail Complex.

WCSO School Resource Officer Delivers Graduation Speech at Pawnee School

Serving as a mentor who not only keeps Pawnee School safe, but guides students toward positivity is just one of the many ways WCSO School Resource Officer (SRO) Andrews makes a meaningful impact.

Recently, SRO Andrews was invited to deliver this year’s commencement address.
“I am very proud of this group for their perseverance,” SRO Andrews said.

In his remarks, he encouraged the graduating class of three to keep striving for excellence and reminded them that high school graduation is just one steppingstone on the path to achieving their life goals.

We are grateful for the positive impact SRO Andrews has had on the students at Pawnee School, and we wish the Pawnee School Class of 2026 every success in their future endeavors!

The sheriff's office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the male pictured in this post that is suspected of a burglary and vehicle theft in the early morning hours of May 22, from the 27200 block of Weld County Road 13, near Johnstown.

Weld County Man Sentenced to 96 Years to Life Following Brutal 2021 Assault Case

[WELD COUNTY, Colo.] When Weld County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity on Oct. 12, 2021, shortly after 6 a.m., they quickly realized the situation was far from routine. A passerby who had stopped to help reported seeing an adult woman walking on Weld County Road 6 without clothing and with chains wrapped around her neck and arms.

Deputies, and later Weld County Sheriff’s Office detectives, contacted the victim, who provided a traumatic account of the events that led to her being found in such a condition.

At the time, the victim was living with her then boyfriend, 36-year-old Tory Hammond, in a semi-truck trailer in an industrial lot on Highway 85 and Weld County Road 6.

The victim reported Hammond held her against her will in the truck trailer, brutally sexually and physically assaulted her for several hours, and threatened her with a firearm. The victim recounted to detectives that Hammond placed a tow chain around her neck and wrists and attached the chain to a table. Hammond fell asleep and the victim passed out after hours of trauma. She woke up and realized the tow chain was no longer secured to the table leg. She ran out of the truck trailer and into the road with the chain still wrapped around her. Good Samaritans stopped to help and called 9-1-1.

Deputies were able to locate the property where the crime occurred and found Hammond in a vehicle outside the trailer. Hammond was arrested, and the trailer was secured and search warrants were executed.

Following a two-part trial, a jury convicted Hammond of physically and sexually assaulting the victim, while holding her captive and restraining her with chains.

On May 21, 2026, a Weld County judge sentenced Hammond to 96 years to life in prison.

“This case is not something we commonly see in Weld County. The Sheriff’s Office and the Weld County District Attorney’s Office conducted a thorough and dedicated investigation into this incident, and I am grateful to see it prosecuted to the fullest extent possible. Our thoughts remain with the victim, and we sincerely hope she can find comfort, closure, and continued healing now that this case has come to an end,” said, Weld County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Captain Matt Turner.
