Man arrested for suspected criminal trespass and resisting arrest after trespass-in-progress investigation

Yesterday, just before 6:30 p.m. Weld County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to the 11400 block of Weld County Road 23, near Fort Lupton, on a report of a trespass in progress involving a male.

Deputies had previously responded to the same residence on August 29 regarding a suspicious male on the property that they were not able to locate. Deputies also responded to a second call for service on August 30, just before 1 p.m. regarding a suspicious vehicle that was reportedly abandoned on the property. During the investigation, deputies learned 37-year-old Victor Sanchez Jr. had been reportedly driving the abandoned vehicle earlier and had an active warrant.

A patrol deputy arrived on scene and saw a male suspect matching the description of Sanchez. Sanchez took off running in the opposite direction of the deputy. The deputy gave verbal commands for Sanchez to stop, and he reportedly continued to run away from the deputy. Sanchez bent down, and the deputy could not see his hands. The deputy gave Sanchez commands to stop, get on the ground, and warned him he would be tased if he did not comply. Sanchez reportedly attempted to run away, and the deputy deployed his taser. After being tased, Sanchez reportedly attempted to run away from the deputy again, but the deputy was able to subdue him until other deputies arrived and he was taken into custody.

Sanchez was arrested on suspicion of second-degree criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and the active warrant.

All charges are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until, unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Greeley Man Faces Additional Charges After Warrant Arrest

[Greeley, COLO.] A 46-year-old Greeley man is facing additional charges after Weld County deputies arrested him on active warrants.

Yesterday, shortly after 12 p.m., members of the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Strike Team observed a vehicle near 10th Street and 24th Avenue in Greeley. The vehicle’s registered owner is associated with Oscar Campos, who was known to have two active arrest warrants.

After deputies positively identified Campos walking near the vehicle, they arrested him for the warrants. During a search of Campo’s person, after his arrest, deputies discovered what they suspected were illegal narcotics which later tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine and M-30 counterfeit fentanyl pills. A stolen firearm was also recovered.

Campos was arrested on the active warrants, and on suspicion of:
• Unlawfully Carry a Concealed Firearm
• Possession Of Weapon by Previous Offender
• Possession Of a Controlled Substance
• Possession Of Fentanyl or Analog - Less Than 1 Gram
• Theft - Theft of Firearm

Judge hands down 236 years to life in prison to man who sexually assaulted female

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County judge handed down a sentence of 236 years to life in prison to a man convicted of sexually assaulting a female child on multiple occasions.
In June, a Weld County jury convicted 41-year-old Joshua Andrews of twelve counts of sexual assault on a child – position of trust, as part of a pattern of sexual abuse.

On January 22, 2024, a Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a reported sexual assault in Weld County. The reported victim was a 9-year-old girl.

The victim’s mother reported that her daughter had become reluctant to attend school on Thursdays, when lessons concerning private parts were taught.

When asked whether anyone had touched her inappropriately, the child indicated that the defendant had sexually assaulted her. The Weld County District Attorney’s Office Investigators continued to investigate, leading to the charges in this case.

“Our message is simple: People who prey on Weld County’s children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Arynn Clark said. “We will continue to protect children in our community and will use every tool we have available to seek justice. There is no place in our community for adults who abuse children.”
Weld County Judge Anita Crowther imposed the sentence.

WCSO warning the public and seeking information on suspicious incidents

Within the last week, the sheriff’s office has taken two separate reports of suspicious incidents involving asphalt paving.

Both reporting parties indicated a truck driver showed up at their homes with extra asphalt from another job and offered it to the homeowners. Once the homeowners agreed to take some of the product, they received the asphalt, then the company reportedly tried to charge the homeowners a large sum of money that had not been formally agreed upon.

The deputies investigating these suspicious incidents have not confirmed that the two incidents are related.

WCSO wants to warn the Weld County community about these incidents in case the investigations turn out to be criminal in nature. Deputies are also seeking additional information about these incidents to see if other incidents of a similar nature have gone unreported.

Detectives need help solving decades old cold case homicide of Fort Lupton farmer

On Aug. 27, 1986, Gerald J. Dreiling was discovered dead in his home by one of his family members. He had returned home from a family gathering to change the water in an irrigation ditch, and when he did not return to the gathering after an hour, a family member went to check on him. After finding Gerald face down in his house, the family member called 911, and emergency personnel responded. It appeared to detectives Gerald may have interrupted a burglary at his residence, and he was forced to lie prone in a hallway and was shot.
