**Press Release**

On 06/21/2026 at approximately 6:02 pm patrol officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the area of 945 Rt. 517. Preliminary investigation determined two motorcycles traveling northbound on Rt. 517 collided causing both to lose control. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other driver was transported to Morristown Hospital in serious but stable condition. Rt. 517 was shut down until approximately 9:30 pm. The accident remains under investigation.

Island Dragway will be hosting a static rocket test conducted by Columbia University. They have coordinated this test with local Fire Personnel. This test may produce loud noise between 10am and 4pm.
