Navy personnel conducting mission essential functions are exempt from local restrictions, and we are working with local officials to ensure Navy exemptions are incorporated into future local “shelter-in-place” orders. Navy personnel not conducting mission essential functions in areas under state control shall act in accordance with the applicable provisions of public health emergency declarations made by public health officials. Additionally, many city/states include exemptions for emergency management, law enforcement, federal and military personnel. For specific concerns, please contact your command’s legal counsel.

What we do here at Naval Station Great Lakes is essential to the defense of the nation. Many of you—Sailors and civilians alike--will be asked to come to work as you always do. We encourage you to discuss your work status with your chain-of-command.

That said, personnel who are sick should stay home or follow their command’s sick call procedure; civilian employees should contact their primary care manager or Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. If you experience symptoms such as moderate-to-severe difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, high fever or inability to hold down fluids, notify your primary care manager and seek care immediately from your primary care clinic or the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center.

Thank you for what you do every day to make Naval Station Great Lakes the best installation in the Navy. We cannot do this without you. We are all in this together.
