Yesterday's big wind storm left it's mark at YWCA Great Falls yesterday, and unfortunately, our fence didn't quite make it through. 💨

Thankfully everyone is safe and there was no damage to our building. Just another reminder that Montana weather keeps us on our toes.

As we celebrate the 4th of July and mark 250 years of American independence, we want to recognize Julia Morgan whose vision transformed the spaces where communities gather, learn, and thrive.

Despite facing discrimination and gender barriers, Morgan’s talent and determination led her to become the first licensed female architect in California and one of America’s most prolific designers. Her work with the YWCA helped create over 19 buildings across the country, each reflecting the community it served and providing safe, empowering spaces for women and families.

As we mark the 250th birthday of the United States, we reflect on the visionary leaders whose work has helped build a more just, equitable, and inclusive nation. Among them is Grace Hoadley Dodge, a founding figure of the YWCA whose bold vision transformed a fragmented movement into a unified force for change.

Her pioneering efforts led to the formation of the national YWCA in 1905. Grace believed in the "science of living," a holistic approach to well-being encompassing physical, emotional, and financial health. Her leadership emphasized collective strength, intergenerational collaboration, and giving voice to women most impacted by social inequality.

Today, her legacy lives on through YWCA’s work to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote justice and dignity for all. From advocating for living wages to providing safe housing and affordable childcare, the YWCA continues to carry her vision forward.
