Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind

Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind This is the official page for the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind. A first rate, caring staff leads children through those doors each year.

Since 1893, the Montana School for the Deaf & Blind (MSDB) has evolved to meet the needs of each generation of children with vision or hearing loss. At MSDB, we open doors to the world for deaf and Blind children through the use of educational technology, creative expression, or ever-increasing new tools.

At Family Learning Weekend, MSDB was honored to recognize two outstanding partners, Dr. Todd Murdock and Dr. Peter Von Doersten, for their dedication to Montana children and families who are blind, low vision, deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind.

Thank you Rocky Mountain Eye and Rocky Mountain ENT Center for your expertise, advocacy, and years of service. Your impact on the lives of children and families across our state is truly appreciated.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Happy Flag Day! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Students in MSDB's Visual Impairment Department created this patriotic quilt as a service project to honor a Montana veteran. Working alongside the The 406 Piece Makers and Quilts of Valor Foundation, students helped plan, measure, and create the quilt.
The quilt will soon be presented to a Montana veteran in recognition of their service.

Thank you to the 406 Piece Makers for helping bring this meaningful project to life!

Friday Fun! β˜€οΈ

Even though school is out for the summer, our campus is still buzzing with activity. Last weekend, we welcomed families from across Montana for Family Learning Weekend, where parents, children, and siblings came together to learn, connect, and create lasting memories.

We loved seeing families build new skills, make new friendships, and enjoy all the fun the weekend had to offer!

πŸ€–πŸͺ A fun day at MSDB! πŸͺπŸ€–

During a recent visit to MSDB, members of the Board of Public Education joined staff for their annual luncheon, featuring a scratch-made meal prepared by our kitchen team using Montana-grown products and Montana-shaped sugar cookies. During the luncheon, the Board also presented Jim Kelly with a plaque recognizing his years of dedicated service to MSDB.

Board members later spent time with our cottage students, who taught them how to operate Sphero coding robots.

Thank you for visiting our campus and connecting with our students and staff!

πŸ’™ Celebrating a Legacy of Service πŸ’™

This week, MSDB honored Jim Kelly, Linda Ranes, and Susan Davis for their years of dedication and service to our students and school community.

Students helped make the celebration special through their performances, while family, friends, and colleagues shared heartfelt words and memories. We also commemorated their lasting impact with a tree planting ceremony in their honor.

Thank you for the difference you have made at MSDB. We wish you all the best in retirement!
