Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On May 28, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an officer with the Graysville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Pikeville Avenue after observing an expired vehicle registration.

During the investigation, officers determined the driver, Terry Stewart, was operating the vehicle with a driver’s license revoked due to a previous DUI conviction. While the driver was being detained, officers discovered suspected methamphetamine and he**in in his possession.

Mr. Stewart was taken into custody and charged with Driving on a Revoked License (DUI Related), Expired Registration, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance. He was transported to the Rhea County Justice Center without incident.

DUI Enforcement Checkpoint Partnership

Last night, Chief Bean and Lieutenant Kite had the opportunity to assist the Tennessee Highway Safety Office during a DUI enforcement checkpoint operation.

It is encouraging to see so many law enforcement agencies working together toward a common goal—keeping our roadways safe. Collaborative efforts such as these help deter impaired driving, enhance public safety, and strengthen partnerships between agencies across our communities.

Tonight, while Chief Bean, Lt. Kite, and FTO McRae were dining at El Tore Mexican Restaurant, they had the opportunity to meet several young individuals with aspirations of becoming future law enforcement officers. Lt. Kite and FTO McRae presented each of them with a Junior Police Officer badge, which was met with great appreciation and excitement.

Graysville Police Department Conducts Traffic Stop Resulting in Drug Arrest

Graysville, TN — On April 28, 2026, officers with the Graysville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a red passenger vehicle entering the city limits. During the stop, officers made contact with the driver, identified as Kayla Moore.

A K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle, during which K-9 sniper alerted to the presence of narcotics. Based on this alert, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located digital scales, small plastic baggies commonly associated with the distribution of narcotics, and a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.

A total of approximately 5 grams of the suspected methamphetamine was recovered and seized, with portions located inside the vehicle and on Ms. Moore’s person.

Ms. Moore was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rhea County Detention Center for booking.

The Graysville Police Department remains committed to protecting the community and actively working to keep dangerous drugs off the streets. Through proactive enforcement and continued vigilance, the department strives to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens.
