⚠️Dangerous heat is occurring today!

The heat index is already over 100°F across the Tennessee Valley with temperatures continuing to rise through the afternoon. 🥵

Please, practice heat safety this afternoon!

Limit time outdoors in the heat, utilize air conditioned spaces, and also try to limit appliance use during peak heating hours this afternoon and evening to mitigate the load on the power grid across the region. The Tennessee Valley Authority is expecting record, or near record, power demand this afternoon again due to the excessive heat across the area.

Heat index values will climb to between 100 and 105 in many
valley locations across southeast Tennessee and portions of the
central Tennessee Valley this afternoon.

If spending time outdoors, try to limit strenuous activities and
wear loose- fitting, light- colored clothing. If working outdoors
