The Graysville Police Department would like to remind everyone that life is so much bigger than negativity. This world can be a much more beautiful place for all of us if we shared as much love, respect, kindness, and understanding as we do criticism, anger, and division.

We understand that not everyone will always agree with law enforcement or even like every individual they meet. That is part of life. But you do not have to like someone to respect them and the job they do. Respect is something every person wants for themselves, their family, and the name they carry.

One thing many people may not realize is that if you have never worn the badge, you may not fully understand what officers are legally allowed to do and what they are not allowed to do. Laws and policies change constantly, and updates are sent to officers on a regular basis. We are required to follow those laws and policies exactly as written, because there are real consequences for officers who do not.

Behind every badge is a human being. We have feelings. We have families whose names we love, honor, and respect. Just like every person in this community, we want to do right by the people we serve while also protecting those we care about at home.

We also want the public to know that every agency and entity has leadership and administration available to meet with citizens and discuss concerns, questions, or complaints respectfully and appropriately. Social media should never replace real communication and productive conversation.

Negativity, gossip, and constant division solve nothing. Honest conversation, respect, and understanding can solve much more than many people realize.

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying.” Ephesians 4:29

“Whoever goes about slandering reveals secrets, but he who is trustworthy in spirit keeps a thing covered.” Proverbs 11:13

“Show proper respect to everyone.” 1 Peter 2:17

We appreciate the many citizens who continue to support, encourage, and pray for our officers and this community. Let’s work together to build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
