FIVCO Area Development District FIVCO ADD serves Kentucky’s Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence counties

Kentucky's counties are grouped into 15 regions known as Area Development Districts, or ADD's. Although they are public bodies under Kentucky law, the ADD's are not State agencies nor are they another level of government. Instead, the ADD's should be thought of as partnerships of local units of government. Locally-elected officials and citizen members comprise the ADD boards of directors. The ADD

staffs are made up of professionals with a wide range of backgrounds in such areas as economic development, human services, management, and planning. By sharing the expertise found on the ADD staffs, local governments are collectively able to afford the professional staff that many counties and cities could not afford by themselves

📚New Statewide Education Opportunity for Kentucky

The FIVCO Area Development District is proud to join Kentucky’s 15 Area Development Districts in supporting the formation of the Kentucky Education Fund, a new statewide nonprofit preparing for a federal scholarship tax credit program beginning January 1, 2027.

The Kentucky Education Fund will provide a statewide option for administering qualifying contributions and scholarships for eligible K-12 educational expenses, helping create greater opportunities for students across all 120 Kentucky counties.

Law enforcement agencies: There's a funding opportunity for those agencies inside of the 5th Congressional district! For FIVCO, this means Boyd, Elliott, Lawrence, and part of Carter County.

This funding opportunity supports communications equipment such as radios and interoperability systems, drones, camera systems, mobile command systems, laptops, and more.

Important Note: These funds are NOT locked to P25 radios.

The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security is hosting a cybersecurity workshop a the FIVCO Area Development District in Grayson, KY on Tuesday, September 29th at 1:00 PM ET/ 12:00 PM CT.

The event is no-cost and all are welcome. The goal of the event is to provide education on cyber risks as well as discuss no-cost resources available to businesses and local governments to be more cyber resilient.

Thank you, Flatwoods, for a wonderful Senior Saturday!

FIVCO was proud to be part of such a fun day celebrating our community’s older adults. A special thank you to Debbie Henson, Senior Center Director, her wonderful volunteers, and the City of Flatwoods for hosting and welcoming us!

We enjoyed connecting with seniors and community members at our vendor table, listening to live music from Wheelhouse, and watching the Senior Dance Competition. It was such a fun way to celebrate our seniors and the community that supports them.

Thank you for letting FIVCO be a part of it!
